Temporary Green Dye By Green_Sage. 03/02/11, 01:38 am |
| heya this year for chchgeddon i need to temporarily dye my hair dark green... i only need it for one day but the other day wont matter as im in katamari group so head is covered... only thing im concerned about is going to school and getting in serious trouble for having green hair lol, so can anyone tell me where to get a good, short-lasting dark green dye? if it lasts more that the 2 days i can pull a sick day or two so as not to be killed but not for long xD
Any and all advice is welcome THANKS |

| Firstly, what color is your natural hair? (also how dark/light is this green you wanted?) Secondly, if it is darker than the green you want are you averse to getting it lightened/bleached so the dark green will show up? (EDIT: not to say go all the way to light blond, say if your hair is dark brown or black and you want a medium-ish green, are you willing to get it lightened one or two shades?)
Thirdly do you have dandruff shampoo in your house
I use a temporary dye for my hair (It's bleached to pale gold under all that red lol) that is supposed to last 'between 3 - 30 washes'. The brand I'm using is Fudge Paintbox. I'm not sure about how widely stocked it is in NZ but you can find it on trademe for like $16. I don't remember if they have green dye though, so you might have to mix. If not, there's also manic panic on trademe. I'm pretty careful with it, but even then the color didn't last very long the first time I dyed my hair. After I did my hair the first time it went pale pink/near white by the end of three weeks (like this lol). I'd say about six to nine washes?
If you do go this way, be prepared to spend some time in the shower to get all, if not most, of the color out. Use dandruff shampoo, it leeches dye out like nobody's business. (Also, condition well after, especially if you're packing in like six shampoos into one shower. Shampooing that much kind of dries your hair out a bit.)
If not, there's colored hairsprays and colored hairgels. I've never used the former (heard it flakes like crazy though) but I've used the latter-- needs a crapload to show up on my (formerly) black hair, gets everywhere and stains everything it touches. A friend of mine used the gel and borrowed one of my hats for the day.... I've never gotten the stain out >> |

| How long do you need the hair? Because you can find decent wigs on ebay for $25+ with shipping and it might prove more efficient to just spend it, as it'll wind up around the same amount anyway if you need to bleach as well. |

| I don't think you can get washout crazy colours really, at least not ones that would come out in two days. You could maybe try dying your hair green and then buying another dye in your natural colour/some sort of brown to try and cover it up?
It'd probably be easier to just get a wig in the end though. |

| Just buy a wig, and you can always sell it after if you dont want it anymore, so it's win/win. |

| Blonde hair + green food colouring = dye that washes out super easy. Brown hair => green = Hell on earth. |

| Light Brown to Dark green should be ok. Any number of one-wash dyes out there. |
