Celty Sturluson cosplay [PART TWO] By Xenotimestwo. 29/01/11, 08:47 am |
| Thank you for the opinions of those who commented.
I've found two cat suits on eBay that I'm seriously considering. They are also in the above poll so please vote. Because I am a poll ho. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130481632288&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNARL:US:1123

I'm unsure which one to pick and also questions about the material used. Would anyone know if Spandex PVC really does stretch easily? Is it worth buying a small and hoping it stretches a bit. I'm only an inch off one of the measurements but I would just like serious opinions before I go and buy one. Thank you. >:

| ^Lycra wouldn't be good for Celty, because it doesn't have the right texture. =D
You probably want to use stretch PVC for it, but unfortunately, I have no recommendations on where you'd get that in Auckland. One of the shops in CHCH has it, but, well, yeeeah, methinks that's a bit out of the way for you?
In any case, you should make the outfit for yourself-- jumpsuits need to fit just right otherwise they look silly, and to get the correct fit your best bet is to make it yourself. You can probably find a pattern for a jumpsuit somewhere-- I'd give suggestions, but the time I made one for Nero the Sable I combined a bunch of patterns instead of just using one, so yeeeah.
Good luck! |

Good luck! True true. Auckland isn't built for what I'm looking for. It never is. It's quite sad.
Thank you for your advice! I probably will end up just making one.

| I've actually got a wet-look lycra catsuit I got off ebay (about US$25) that's almost perfect-- I need to take in the lower back area and then that's done. The only problem I have with it otherwise, if I'm being picky, is that I should probably have gotten it one size bigger because mine's very closefitting in the torso, and that the lower arm/leg area is very 'fitting' whereas in Celty's it is looser. I know a lot of Celty cosplayers on coscom use dance leotards, i forget the website they buy it from though.

Damn, that's a nice cheap price when compared to the others I've come across. That's the kind of thing I'm after. A little looser, and as long as the collar is high, I have no problems. Unsure if I should go for the wet-look or not but that might look the best after all. |

Re: Celty Sturluson cosplay [PART TWO] By damian. 29/01/11, 11:25 am |
| lol i was actually a bit wary about the quality for that price u_u; but i think i lucked out. i got mine in the size they recommended for my height and body weight (S, i think), so i reckon one size up from what the recommended size is would look better. :3
wet-look or not is up to you. the non-shiny zentai are really REALLY matte so if you don't want wet-look lycra stretch PVC might probably be the way to go.
EDIT: yeah, the collar is high. /was satisfied with the collar. you might still have to paint the top of your neck and under your chin though, depending on how long your neck is and how low your helmet sits.
if you're interested i can go look for the seller i got it from for you. :3 there are plenty on ebay, however. |

Thank you very much! I appreciate it. |

| If you make one, be very careful to measure your torso length properly! You want the crotch to sit in the right place, or it can ride up/down and look yuck. :) |
