Regular sewing meetups - detailed proposal

I have just come home from a chat with the lovely lady who runs the Wellington Sewing Club about using their lovely space for a regular cosplay sewing meeting.
The space is really great, got about 5 sewing machines, and a few overlockers. There's some cutting space, running water, the internet, a scrap bin and a stocked kitchen.
The cost is is about $40. This is for two or three hours, probably on a Monday or Tuesday evening.
So in order for the cost to come down under $5/person, we need there to be at least 8 people showing up on a regular basis.

So, who's interested?

Though I probably wouldn't be able to until next month, due to lack of money and exams OTL

I'm actually kind of interested... I seem to work better in an acutal sewing space. It depends on when and where though.

No more news yet, but if we have about 8 people who might be interested then it gets it down to reasonable price. I'll have a chat with her again, and see whats the haps.

There is a good chance I'm keen. Depends on getting more work/monies next year and this summer and whether I buy a machine or not..... so I guess that's a lot of depends.

But if I earn a bit then I am in.

So had a nightmare getting through six layers of thick wool and some lining for a winter coat on the plastic Brother at home; how heavy are the machines at the Sewing Club? Would kill for an industrial machine to work on.

OK, despite several e-mails, a few in person visits and one minion, I'm yet to get a reply about moving this along to the next step. Which is aggravating. However, my minion has pointed out that this same building has an area available for hire. It's about $60/week, but quite secure - I know everyone who would have access to it. It's at the Creative City place in town, and has power, internet, a kitchen, lots of space. If a few of us went in, we could have a permanent spot in town where we could go and do all weekend sewing binges.

If you're keen, say how much you could contribute a week, what equipment you'd be keen to add to the room, or what equipment you'd like to see in the room, and other useful things like that.

I'd say no more than $10 for me (okay, little more, but yeah). But I'm sure we'd have over six people anyway xD.

Equipment ... I WANT AN OVERLOCKER 8Db. We could all donate a couple dollars and get a good range of cotton thread colours to share?

That's a brilliant idea! I know I always end up buying an entire spool of misc colours when I only needed to do four seams and then I never use them again, so having a pool of those sorts of things would be great.

I have a Three thread Baby overlocker, maybe a bernina minimantic (I have two sewing machines incase of breakdown) and a heat gun I can "loan" and well as a few other tools probly
i would probly willing to do $10-$15
