| * You may find that you have to price things high because of the cost, and also because they are unlikely to be happy with you undercutting the stalls. But then there is very poor selection of food at the stalls. * You would probably find the only space this year was somewhere around the card table area. * You would need to talk to the venue and probably the council. You may find you need a food plan to get around not having a hygiene certificate, commercial kitchen, etc. Which is a lot of effort for one event. But then it will only get you around so much. * You need to talk to Bill first to see if he is open to the idea. * Thinking about the layout here is a suggestion. Based on positioning opposite the card playing, in the corner against the back wall of the stalls (the cards can be moved north a bit to ease foot traffic.) You need a curtained storage area/staff time out area. And then have a serving area along the wall, with a large area of tables in front. Have the table area roped off so it is clearly for cafe patrons only, not a general rest area. Clearly sign a entrance between the tables and the serving area, so they can't just sneak in for a rest, but feel guilty and have to buy something. Clearly sign one exit only, and have it manned by one person at all times. (Can draw this if people want?) * You are going to have to roster on a lot of people , and as they are volunteers with limited experience, I would suggest 2-4 hours is as much as you can expect them to keep up good customer service for. And then you need to schedule breaks. And you need to make sure they turn up. And they have water too. * I would suggest that the saturday and sunday are the main days. Set it up on friday, take down monday? Otherwise you need so much more money/food/staff. But close before the comp so staff can see the comp. Also going to be a harder day to get staff. * Remember you need the main through route and a couple of tables to be wide enough to allow wheelchair access. * Given staff and customers are both going to be in cosplay you need a very easy way for people to tell who are staff and who are customers. * Maybe have a small sound system? * You probably don't have the room for cooking/much in the way of fridges, etc. But the minimum would be to keep the cold drinks cold, and fresh food such as sammi's cold, and you need facilities to make hot drinks. Probably a proper multi-station coffee machine to keep up with demand. Thats just what people expect out of cafe's now. (Unless you go all tea and cold drinks only, bubble cup style.) And staff training for making drinks? * It would not hurt to see if a (Japanese bakery?) would be able to supply a bulk deal on food. And maybe in return for their sign and details on the back wall then they can supply up front, and you can pay later after it's sold? Keep the range wide enough to offer choice, but simple in both range and pricing. Remember that volunteers who are only on for half a day need to remember the pricing. * It may not hurt to ask if the maid cafe/bubble tea/mobile coffee place could actually handle the drinks orders. * Maybe do the food service from the counter, ie., all food is preprepared. And all soft drinks/etc as well. The only things a waiter/waitress should deliver to the table are hot drinks/bubble tea/etc. Keep it simple. * Use disposable everything. * Consider a 10am-3/4pm service? Easier to cope. * Any time it is closed the food/drinks/cups/valuable need to be secured.
[Edit] I can't spell Michaela, either. Well look at that maybe I can. |

I think matching uniforms would be a good idea! I also like the idea of being able to get smaller, lighter things to eat then the fried donuts and hotdogs (not that I don't love them!, but not in cosplay) |

They are easy to make, cheaper to make and don't require "fittings" for each staff member. You only have to have as many as you do staff on duty, just swap them over. |

| ^Vest for bouncers sound cool! And aprons sounds like a good idea. (the matching maid thing would have been the best! XD)
Well~ I'd totally love to help out! As a waitress or something!~ Whatever needs being done~ I've been helping out with my Cultural group stuff - we ran a stall today at our athletics day. I guess I could give you some insight if you plan on running it like a stall. Babysitting the money box was my job (giving change, and making sure it's not stolen), but I helped out with serving customers. All we did sell was Pearl milk tea, aleo vera, and assam tea and did some face paint. but we are selling food on thursday.
Main thing is to be organised! We were to an extent. The only problem was that there were TOO MANY PEOPLE selling drinks and not enough for facepainting. So you have to divide people properly, and be ready to move people / and things are. Also! the chilly bins were everywhere and things were mixed up in different places and it was sometimes hard to figure where things are.
Most important! - Ask your team to help! We are here for you~!!! -^w^- Yeah. I hope it was helpful.... >.<

| it would be sooo cute to have a butler and maid theme! (i've been watching maid-sama)
not a very original idea but would be fun to wear cute aprons 4 the maids! ^^
and people could cosplay their charcter in the butler/maid version uniform so theirs heaps of room 4 creativity. |
