Cutting a wig - Halp! o.o By Ruthie. 10/11/10, 04:19 am |
| Hello world! My beautiful wig came today from China!
But I need to cut it a little to make this:
I've never cut a wig before, so any advice/tips/videos you know of would be helpful! :) Also, Aqua has this little bit of hair that sticks out on the side, so how to I make it stay like that? |

| Ok, as someone who does enjoy styling wigs, I'll give you some advice ^^
Aqua's hair is obviously pieced, and you will need to spend approximately 6-8 hours on it~!
You will need in your hair kit: . Hairspray (the cheaper, the better! It's more glue-in-a-can ^^) . Trimming scissors (easy to find at a chemist) . Wig head (spotlight or on TradeMe)
Start with the front and work your way to the back, I find that's easier with semi-spiked wigs. have lots of reference pictures and try not to breathe in the hairspray~
Aurellion has some great tips about wigs as well~ |

To add to Bedemmy's advice:
- Its best to use straight salon scissors, but if you can't find any, (new) sharp paper scissors should do. - Cut vertically if you want a soft spiky edge to the hair, instead of a blunt cut. - Try to investigate in 'spiking glue'. These have a much stronger hold than hairspray and /is/ actually made for spikes C: - Never use hair gel: That stuff is supposed to react to REAL hair.
If you want, I can come over to your house and help you style it? ♥ I have the wighead, the scissors and glue~ |

| Yep :) My mum is a hairdresser and does a lot of cutting- it's nearly all cutting parallel to the hair, and it's messing up her wrists 'cause she does this every day. But it works really well, especially for the feathery styles used in art and hair staling today. |
