Does the wig HAVE to touch the floor?

So accuracy wise or convenience? Does cosplaying a character with hair length to their ankles need a wig to that length as well? Or do you guys think just a long-ish wig (say, to the butt or below the bust) be passable?

What do you guys think?

I think I'd only ever wear an extremely long wig just for photoshoots. Definitely shorten it for convenience if going to a convention.

....Though in saying that I"m planning on getting a really long wig for Kusaka >____>

I say no, if the wig is to the floor, unless as azeria said, it's for a photoshoot then buttlength for your general sanity, in my opinion is good enough.

It's better to have a tidy, slightly shorter wig at an event than an accurately long, matted wig

As a rule - always wear convenient wigs to cons. So accuracy doesn't matter in this sense.
You'll probably look better anyways with a shorter wig than a tangled mess.
So if your cosplay meant to have floor length hair, just go with mid back length.

For photoshoots, accuracy is always best : D Since you'll be prepared with a bathroom (hopefully) nearby for fixups. Plus you'll have friends nearby (i hope) to help fix anything up, such as long wigs.

Then again, it all really depends on the quality of your wig. Heat resistant wigs can be amazing sometimes! But I still wouldn't recommend wearing floor length wigs to conventions =P

I got a butt length wig for Chii, and that was fine. It's a really good quality wig so it didn't tangle much, but not sure what would happen if it was longer. (Although now I kinda wish it was for accuracy)

I'd say....if you want floor length, fork out for a damn good wig. Maybe even hold the hair during the day except for photos? ^^;

I'd say go for the one that looks realistic in real life. I'd think it'd look weird if you'd have a wig that really was floor length, probably because you just don't really see people with that long a hair in real life.
Plus, shorter wigs = more convenient, less mess, and generally cheaper. Razz

But for photoshoots, that's a different story. :)

oops, the to the floor thing was just an exaggeration lol

cause yea, everyone knows how annoying those extremely long wigs are, so I wanted to see the majority in votes/opinions for which is preferred.

So a costume for a photoshoot, would it be less favoured if the wig was shorter? (keep the opinions coming guys~)

Unless it's a costume you've poured your everything into and really want to be as accurate as possible, why both getting two wigs?
Or just get the long wig, do a photoshoot before the con and cut it in time xD
(For instance, you don't really see many Hatsune Miku cosplayers having the same length hair she has in the official art.

Plus, I think you can't get like, floor length wigs as easy as say, butt length or something.

As for if having a longer wig for a photoshoot is always more favourable, I'd say no. :)

I just ordered a 51" Grell wig for the shoot, will probably trim it down anyway (not sure if he'll be seen a con *shrug* )

while this is still a help thread, anyone know where I can get me a mouth guard?
