This is the way i've always done my armour cosplays, and always will. It produces the best look by far. |

| This might be useful: http://www.entropyhouse.com/penwiper/costumes/helmsdeep.html
You can buy it from the Warehouse in $3 packs in the Arts/Craft section. |

| You can also find craft foam under the name EVA foam at Pararubber for about $13 a metre. Really easy to use I followed the tutorial that firecat posted earlier for all my armour. |

| Oh my god I love you so much for doing Alistair (Zap! Frog time <3) He's pretty much one of my favourite characters from anything ever and he rocks Cailans armour pretty hard. If I see you in this expect me to follow you pretty much all day squealing like a small girl.
On an actually helpful note, if this is your first armour then I reeally recommend buying a bit more material than you need and just making something un-needed with it before you start on the real thing. Because starting with a new material and getting part way through a main piece of your actual cosplay before realising you're doing it wrong and it's going to look horrible is really gutting.
I didn't like working with craft foam personally, and am going to try expanding foam for our GW characters since I hear it's fantastic, so it would be great to know how you do go with whatever you choose! |

| Im going with expanding foam, carve, sand, thin application of fiberglass paint, sand. i dont like sanding paper mache lol too dodgy and not smooth enough for my liking. also you won't be coming to chch anyway fool! oh and using Gamesworkshop paints. ive decided it's all or nothing. Also zeph, ancient elven armour armour would suit you indeed also i know the material rule but for some reason didn't apply that to prop/ armour (found out the hard way with pyramid head loll)
EDIT: Sword was Starfang ^^; ZEPH GET CORUM TO DO OGRHEN! If i can't get Niemhaille to do morrigan i'll just have to settle for the spit and shine talk with ogrhen lol

| Well.. I wanted to D:< But Welly and Chch are so close this year. Gah. It's not my fault I have no money. Take photos. And post them places. I also distrust sand paper. I've seen i done really well but it can also turn out really gritty and nasty. Gamesworkshop paints are amazing for cosplay! They're bright and thick and wonderful. Plus they have names like 'tentacle pink'. Sexy. |

| But but.. 1801 posts? I'm pretty much a forum master at 138 XD Posting in forums actually scares me a bit, I just really really like Dragon Age.
Out of interest though when did you do pyramid head? Were you the amazing one shuffling around at AuckGeddon this year? |

| Ahh I do remember you! I don't like to go near Pyramid heads though because I played SH2 when I was quite young and he still terrifies me, so I admired you from afar. Yeah we were trying to decide on something clever and relevant to us when we picked a group name and pretty much went with 'to hell with it let's just go with something awesome.'
I was hoping people would recognise it though so I'm very excited there was somebody who noticed X3 We were semi thinking about doing Alistair and Leliana at some point, but were probably going to just do them in their starting armour. |

| Hmmm, one of these tutorials looks like it could work for some armour that I need to make for a cosplay. *Stalks thread*

@Lennon: I don't remember you ever mentioning this to me, been holding out on me have you now?
@Cyren: Good luck with making that! 8D They sell A4 size packets of EVA foam in those Dollar stores too, 4 sheets in a pack for $2. Harolds fabric store in Papanui sometimes gets it in too, normally in quite large rolls of the stuff, I got some from there ages ago. If you find some of that expanding foam, can you let me know please and from where and how much? Yep, that's the tutorial I'm looking at too.

Isn't he a little tall for a dwarf? I would love to convince him to do Loghain... I contemplated Leliana there for a bit but I'm a bit fat and the accent makes me a little bit insane. So if I get around to it, I'd do my dual wielding human noble warrior Maia in the Warden Commander armor - it's less bulky than the Juggernaut set. And as lame as it sounds, when I can afford it, I'm getting the Grey Warden symbol tattooed on my person.
On a side note, if you do Alistair, I may have to hump you. A lot. Don't say I didn't warn you. |

| It's a shame this is for Chch since I would love to do a Hawke but I can't go down for that one. I know he's 2 and all but I love the asymmetricality of his shoulder piece. you just don't get asymmetrical armour in Origins and it does bother me. |

Occasionally you'd get a different pauldron or a different gauntlet but it was all so very symmetrical, but yeah, there wasn't much asymmetry. I'm weirded out that it bothers me though - I'm a tad OCD and like things to be symmetrical - however armor kinda isn't meant to be. |
