Charity and cosplay? Anyone interested?

hey all :) in 2007 Angela and I were involved with the Special Children's Christmas Parties and it was a really amazing day. I have a few photos:

Anyway the last two years I have been too sick to go and forgot to pass info on over here unti way too late. *shameface* but figured whatever happens it would be good to make the opportunity known to you guys :)

This is a big big day, it's for children who are at risk or face other challenges most of us are fortunate to not have to know. So it's emotionally charged if you think about it but the real focus is on making a really great day for the kids.

And they love people coming along in costume. You need to be able to be enthusiastic but also able to tell when a child is perhaps overwhelmed. Parents and caregivers will be there. The focus is on the kids but there will be a chance to have fun but some degree of care is needed. It's a serious event but is all about fun for the kids

There may also be a need for people to help the children collect their presents. This can be really nifty. Little hands just clutch on to yours as there is a grotto of presents and the helpers are the ones to get them for their charges.

You do need to be able to get down to the level of the kids to shake hands and talk.

Okay so Hamilton is this weekend so it's probably a bit short notice ;) But Auckland is next weekend :)

Oh yeah, the place will be easy to find, it's the ASB Showgrounds :)

Gosh darnit, Im gonna be in Oz at this time, but I really support children's charities-
its part of the reason I first got into cosplay (I cosplayed a pirate at a Pirates of the Carribean fundraiser) and often take part on ward dress up days.

Anyway, I hope you guys do get a group together for this, and make it an annual event (I'll be keen to signup if Im back this way next year)- sending positive vibes your way!

OH I believe I took the weekend off for next week because I'm going to a friend's on Friday evening. But I live close by and I hope to be finished Kyouka next week (cat girl god thingy). Do you think that should be okay?
