cheap party wigs

UPDATED WITH NEW INFO and stuff

Lotsa Goodies the anything store on the 2nd floor of Riccarton Mall only have a few more wigs -or none- left
not sure if they will restock
-please refer to spamtomatospam's post on pg2

Sunlake homewares (on colombo st in Sydenham - near Savemart) have some wigs left
they may get some more???

a store in Sydenham mall that sells party wigs for $12~$15
it's the random asian store that sells anything opposite the SPOTLIGHT entrance
(the one that has ben10 blankets)

there is also a similar store in Bush Inn mall

just thought i'd spread the news ~~so that they'll order in more colours!!!~~

they had
-short bob colour wigs with bangs ($12)
-short scruffy colour wigs with bangs (like near) ($12)
-straight long haired colour wigs with bangs ($15)

there were a range of colours but they didn't have all the colours for each style so you have to go and check if they have what you need
the colours they've had before were:
black, white, yellow blond, gold/bronze blond, blue (blue lagoonish), dark blue, fluro pink, light pink, light purple

there are down sides to it because they're only party wigs
(un-adjustable, no wig cap, easily tangled, crappy bangs...)
but it's good if you're only going to use it as a one-off
and it just happens to be the length and colour you want

oh, its the same stuff they have at cosmic corner but WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY cheaper

i bought a blue bob for a Empoleon (pokemon gijinka) cosplay!!

You must mean tak tak. =P The wigs aren't that bad, havn't brought one but they seemed good. Not if you would want to style them, but still good ^^

Oh, I brought the blue one, its prettiness was irresistable. They are a bit on the thin side, shiney, and have a kind of funky smell at first. Besides from that they aren't too bad though. Pretty though.

Heheh I bought two =_=; it was too hard to choose, but I'll find some use to them, probably only for hall and closet cosplays.
Yeah they are really thin, but apart from that they are not too bad, for their price anyway heheh ^^
Now to avoid that shop before I buy the other ones >____>;;

There was a long haired purple one when I was there... um ... hmm I think it was kinda this colour (in spoiler tag cause its big) only a little lighter? *tries to remember*

Today I came across another place selling cheap party wigs! Yay!

It's a similar sort of shop called Sunlake homewares (I think) and it's also on Colombo Street except in Sydenham ie. south of the Moorhouse Ave overbridge, on the west side of the street.

As for the wigs, I didn't buy any so I can't tell you much about what they were like, but they'll probably be similarly low in quality. There were short and long ones available, for $9 and $12 respectively.
I'm not sure how they were styled as they were all packaged up, but there were quite a lot of colours, I remember there was bright pink, purple, lime-green, white, yellow, royal blue, turquoise-blue plus some other colours that I've forgotten.

Just a small hint: It is super easy to make these cheap wigs into something better. You just buy two (at least) and unpick the wefts from one and sew them into the back.
My Leia wig is made this way (two wigs and lots of hair falls) as was my really huge dredded wig (four 40" wigs). If you have a head form to pin the base wig to (make sure to stretch the netting as much as possible) and can do whip stitch, you are good to go.

And I now have a couple of pink wigs to put together to make into something special for next Geddon. Lots of hairspray will be sacrificed for this one though.

Good news everyone! More cheap party wigs!

There's a new shop in the new upstairs section of Riccarton Mall, its called Lotsa Goodies and they have a variety of wigs for $8.90 each. Yaay!

As far as I remember, there are four different styles (I might be slightly off on some of the details though):
Short bob with fringe
Shoulder-length straight-ish with fringe
Shoulder-length curly (these ones have a sort of headband thing sewn into the front)
Long straight with fringe

As for colours, all the wigs come in fluoro pink, yellow, light purple, and a sort of pinkish-reddish-orangish colour. There might be a few in other colours too.

The short bob wigs also come in lots of other colours (blue, brown, blonde, dark purple, white, black, and more). However, there was only about one or two of each colour, so if you need one it might be wise to get it sooner rather than later.
