Music Collaboration Project- Sign up!

Hi there, a few of us were on Murk's "Does anyone here MAKE music" thread when we decided to do a collaboration piece. We'll work it like pass the parcel, in that when one person finishes adding their bit, they pass it on to the next person (with a copy to come to me please- so I can oversee overall progress).

So if you're interested please sign up, and let us know whether you'd like to do either/some/all of:
1) Compose extra/additional music for the piece, including lyrics
2) Record an instrumental/vocal track to play in the piece (please state instrument and level)
3) Help out some other way (ie with editing, critique etc)

e.g.

1) Yes I want to help compose music/lyrics
2) I would like to record vocal tracks (good) and acoustic guitar tracks (amateurish)
3) I can oversee the project, be the contact person for all the artists and make sure that progress continues

Current Status:
Sockcat has composed the first 16bars (it is awesome! I so want this to be the backing track for a new PS game), and I have recorded a demo of it on acoustic guitar. Awaiting Sockcat's approval before I add in a few bars and pass it on.

1) I'd like to help with composition and lyrics
2) I can (probably) record piano tracks - I am Grade 7, working towards Grade 8.
3) I can critique, but I'd prefer to do so anonymously.

1) I'm not so great with creating music, but I can help out with the lyrics
2) I can sing (amateur) and record some piano (amateur) tracks. I never got graded as I have an intense fear of being judged with a musical instrument, but I had been doing Piano for about 3-4 years. I've taken lessons for voice as well.
3) I can help out with the editing - I have the program Cool Edit Pro 2.0

1) Yup...I'll add something into the peice =3
2) I can do violin as such I'm grade 5, guitar I can play, I'm not graded. And maybe some voice but I'm not graded at that.
3) I can't really put the tracks and peice the music together well at the moment. And I'm too nice to be a critique.

I ish really jumpy atm...Really loud storm...It's awesome but really loud. One clap of thunder just shook our house. I suppose that's what you get when you live next to a valley. It's all amplified. -end of off topic-

1) Yes I want to help compose music and lyrics (only if I have the time)
2) I would like to record vocal tracks (okayish), flute (grade 5), piano (grade 6)and recorder(good, can play up to 'A)
3) I will try to critique to the best of my skills but i would prefer to be anomynous. I can also edit things on Audacity if needed.

This sounds fun~ I'd love to take part but I'd just have to see how busy I am this year >.>

Thanks people. I'm gonna leave this group open for another 2 days before closing, so if you think someone else should be in here- please get them to sign up quickly!

I've updated the list in the order I think things should go... i.e. I'll pass it on to hyolee next, because she was part of the original group who discussed this. Then, in order of recruitment it goes to Rocky and works it's way down the list. Although Zephyr, you were part of the original group, I'd like to save you for last, to add the Drumbeats in.

Once that's done, we'll post a link so everyone can hear it. Get feedback and critiques by PM through me, any last individual editing (of your own piece only) then pass it on to the editors to complete a final draft.

Just some guidelines:
1. Feel free to add what you like- to the maximum of an additional (i.e. new) 16bars.
2. You can, instead of adding new music, put an additional track/instrument to the existing music.
3. If you want to add lyrics, but are unsure about the music, feel free to team up with another person in the group, although preferably someone who hasn't had a go yet (note that this will count as your turn, not necessarily the turn of the person you teamed up with). Or alternatively just write the lyrics up and leave it for someone to add later on.

Any questions, suggestions at this point?

1) yeah, i'd like to add to the piece.
2) electric guitar. should sound pretty interesting mixed with the other instruments you've got so far, yeah? been playing for six or so years, on and off. i've never been graded, but i figure i'm pretty alright.

Nope, just add to it when you're happy.
Once you've done that, keep a separate copy of your part so we can use it
again for editing.

I'm not sure what our school recording facilities are like, but I'll get her onto that.

It may take a while for her to get things done, she's very swamped with responsibility this year.
Responsibility that I won't let her shirk, because I'm second-in-command for most of it, so if she bet me to the leader role, she will do that role properly.

Thanks to Rocky's help, Sockcat is back on board!
I'm still trying to iron out a few wrinkles in the recording part, but Im gonna press on anyways.

I'm gonna forward my poor guitar demo of Sockcat's piece to you Rocky, along with her original music. I haven't added anything yet because I want to do vocals but I need help with lyrics as Im not good with it (and Rocky is the first lyricist down the worklist). This will still count as my turn.

Hyolee I'll get in touch with you soon to get your addition, once Sockcat is happy with her bit, and I've added on mine.
