The Walking Dead

'Sup guys. So the totally badass graphic novel series The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman is currently being turned into a 6-episode mini series by AMC. Because I'm FAR too attached to the comic to give a good overview, I'll just pull the blurb about it from Wikipedia:

Quote :: The Walking Dead is centered on Rick Grimes, a small-town police
officer from Kentucky, his family, and a
number of other survivors who have banded together in order to survive
after the world is overrun with zombies. As the series progresses, the
characters become more developed, and their personalities shift under
the stress of a zombie apocalypse, most notably Rick's.

In the beginning of the series, Rick and partner Shane are in a
firefight and Rick is shot and enters a coma. Upon waking in a hospital,
he discovers the undead are in the building and town. Rick returns home
and shortly decides to go to Atlanta, where the survivors were told to
await help, to find his wife Lori and son Carl. He discovers the city is
crowded with zombies and bumps into Glenn, a scavenger for a band of survivors.

That's all I'll put here, as it's actually a terrible synopsis and gives away a bit of the plot. They've just started releasing images (more promo stuff than set/production shots) and it's looking pretty sweet! It starts airing in the US this October.

The female lead (Lori) is being played by Sarah Wayne Callies, aka Sarah from Prison Break. And the writer/director, Frank Darabont, was the director of The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile.

Zombies are awesome, but it's the characters that make the series such a great read (and hopefully will make it a great show!).

The end of the first volume is going to be the end of the first episode, I believe. WHAT AN ENDING.

If you like L4D/2 or zombies in general, hell, if you are a living human being I can't recommend the comics enough. The trades are pretty easy to find at any decent comic book shop, probably even Boarders, especially with the tv series coming out I can see stores buying surplus stock to meet customer demand.

I'v just started reading the comic, I'm about a third into it and loving it! Normally I cant stand anything to do with zombies because I'm terrified of them and become a big baby.

I find a torrent online for the first ep and it is awesome! As soon as I finished watching it I was like OMG NEED THE NEXT EP NOW NOT LATER!

That was really good. I'm so pleased with it; it exceeded my expectations. It wasn't OMFGZOMBIESGORE as much as I thought it would be, it still kept the focus on the few survivors we saw in this episode.

I can see how the zombie make up is the best ever done. It was so impressive... and torso zombie was creepy as physics.

I am pretty surprised at the rating. 14 seems pretty young to be watching some of that stuff. Those exit wounds, yikes.

Had never read the Comic but did watch the show (just fifnished it actually) Was AMAZING!! Sooo good And the Zombies I do NOT want to see one of those in a dark alleyway
