Good Manga =/= CRAP ANIME

haha, i loved Pet Shop, but i found the anime somewhat lacking. ):
hence the concern that the trend will be continued.

Little Pet Shop is another manga series.
also written by Akino and still revolving around Count D, but it's more of a prequel than anything.
i only have the first three books, but it's amazing.
i got them in Japan, so not sure how popular it is elsewhere.
i assumed quite popular, but i could be wrong...

i brought it in excitement too!!
then i watched it an ughhhhhhhhhhh
*i swear the voice of ash ketchum was in there too via eng dub*
*and behind the scenes should never have been shown*

i thought the artwork could have been
FANTASTIC AND AWESOME KAORIWISE
but alas, not even that u.u

one anime i would put a hand up for a remake ^^;;

not necessarily!
i read Howl's Moving Castle when i was really young and loved it.
went to see the film at the int film festival years ago, and loved that as well.

it's possible to add a unique twist to the story through the medium of film.
Miyazaki is one of the few directors i'd trust to do that, though. >.<

i think the trick is to obviously not follow the story exactly.
there are some things books can do better than movies and vice versa.
these should be taken advantage of when making an anime from a beloved novel or manga.
maybe more films should be more like a loving rendition, rather than an accurate representation.

just a thought. (:

soooo disappointed.
i was wondering if he'd have the magic of his father.
obviously we'll need to look further afield for a Miyazaki replacement. u.u
i was ridiculously happy when he came out of retirement to make Howl's, but now i realise that i have to go through losing him all over again. D:

to make Gedo Senki worse, i adored the original Ursula Le Guin books.
damn bad directors. -_____-;
and i'd have to say that Prince Of The Sun gives Gedo a run for its money in terms of worst Ghibli films.
soo bad. Razz

i s'pose series are more difficult to adapt in a way that will still make sense.
but i do think that the principle remains the same. :3

i don't want it back, it's just taking up valuable space on my anime shelf. >.<

actually, i have almost every Ghibli film ever made.
so feel free to borrow the earlier ones if you'd like.

well, if you can find Goshuu the Cellist (sometimes mistranslated as Goshuu the Gliist for some unknown reason) then i'd highly reccomend it for humour + cuteness value. Razz
