Ornithorhynchus anatinus (the genus) - also known as the Platypus.
The Genus is the long frikking name that no one ever uses but sounds really important - if you can remember it...

Well, I havent met her yet... Im going to savor that fated meeting... And enjoy every moment up to it...

It's the Linnean taxonomy - how Biologist currently classify all life on Earth. Well, some of them. If you look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linnaean_taxonomy you see all the major variants.

Genus is (usually) the second one up from the bottom of classification. For humans, Homo sapiens is our biological/taxonomic name - Homo is the genus, sapiens is the species. Depending on who you ask, there is either one or two types of Homo sapiens - some people reckon Neanderthals were Homo sapiens neanderthalensis, while others say they're not - Homo neanderthalensis.

But we have a bunch of co-geners - other species in our genus. Homo erectus, Homo habilis and a bunch others (depending on who you ask).

Genus: to do with where you come from when applied to people. it's also applied to animals/plants, though that's classification.

I like it, but I think people would just get confuzeled with the Latin.
(more people should learn to loquor romanum. XP)

(that means speak latin...)
