Neil Gaiman - Sandman By Aikome. 02/02/11, 01:33 pm |
| I love the series.
Dream/Morpheus is my favourite Endless, as theatrical as he appears most times. Also, Delirium is on my list of 'want-to-cosplay-eventually' <3
Anyone else read them? |

| I agree, Dream is my favourite. Though I like Death and Destiny, Destruction is also one of my faves. And Neil Gaiman rocks. After reading the vertigo comics, I read his novels, and they're all good too. American Gods is my favourite. |

| I've got a massive collection volume (vol. 1) of Sandman, but I haven't finished all of that one yet haha. I've also got some volumes of Lucifer which is sort of a spin off of Sandman, which I really enjoy

Re: Neil Gaiman - Sandman By Lowkey. 03/02/11, 05:13 am |
| I'm a massive fan of Neil Gaiman's novels and short stories, but I think his comics are his best work. He has amazing concepts and a couple of really beautiful sentences, but I think those work best in the comics where they're not sort of hidden behind the rest of his writing, you know? Big fan of Death, especially enjoy her two spinoffs Death: High Cost of Living, and Death: Time of Your Life. The fact that he chose to make Dream dark and broody and Death bright and positive is on the one hand kind of I see what you did there, but it also just works. Also the implied but never explicit story of Delight becoming Delirium is really cool.
Also the few Books of Magic I've read are really entertaining too; they're based on his concept, aren't they? |

| I really liked Dream, Delerium and thought Destruction was pretty cool. Also! Lucien and Bast! I wished they had written more about Delight - ditto for Daniel... I liked him way more than Dream (whiney!). Although I did read it when I was 13 so I should probably do that again.
For anyone who liked it, Fables is similar-ish and also quite good. It fills the post-Sandman void. |

| Death recently appeared in Action Comics #894 where she sorta kinda guided Lex Luthor through Death. It was a nice little issue.
But yeah, big ups for Mr. Gaiman. I was totally gutted I missed him talking in Wellington last year. Hopefully he makes his was back some time soon. |

| My library is awesome, I was able to read them all. And then got a copy of Endless Nights for a birthday present one year. (I so want to get a copy/read The Little Endless Storybook. It looks adorable.)
Delirium and Daniel are my absolute favourites, though I really like all the Endless and more than some of the side characters like Lucien, Rose, the Corinthian, Barnabas the dog, the gargoyles and Hob. It's not my fault he writes such awesome characters.
I made one of Del's fishes for my friend, who still hasn't completed her cosplay for her yet. It'll probably end up being remade by the time she does so. BUT YOU CAN GET FISH SHAPED BALLOONS and that is so awesome. |
