Higurashi no Naku Koro ni!

Just finished the first season today and I'm in love with this series <3

Anyone else watched it? What are your favourite characters, story arcs etc?

Here's a basic description (stolen from Wiki Very Happy

):
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni takes place during June 1983, at a fictional rural village called Hinamizawa 雛見沢 (based on the village of Shirakawa, Gifu, a World Heritage Site), which has a population of approximately 2000. The main character, Keiichi Maebara, moves to Hinamizawa and befriends his new classmates Rena Ryugu, Mion Sonozaki, Rika Furude, and Satoko Hojo. Keiichi joins their after-school club activities, which consist mostly of card and board games (and punishment games for the loser, usually him.) Hinamizawa appears to be a normal, peaceful, rural village to Keiichi. However, the tranquility abruptly ends after the annual Watanagashi Festival, a celebration to commemorate and give thanks to the local god, Oyashiro-sama. Keiichi learns that every year for the past four years, one person has been murdered and another has gone missing on the day of the Watanagashi Festival. Keiichi himself soon becomes drawn into the strange events surrounding the Watanagashi Festival and Oyashiro-sama. In each story arc, he or one of his friends become paranoid, and a crime is committed. Usually, the crime involves the murder of one of their own friends. While it seems impossible to tell their delusions apart from the mystery of Hinamizawa, slowly the truth is revealed.

I've seen both ^^

to be honest I didn't understand the first season at all... I think I watched the episodes too spread apart or hadn't been paying attention or something. This was last year btw.
Thinking about it I hardly remember those episodes oO

But I loved the second season, things got explained!!! It made me want to watch the first season again hahah. Some of the episodes were so sad (spoiler of second season I think oO)

I also liked the opening of the first season, well and the second but the first was so chilling-creepy oO

This anime is so funny cause it seems so innocent I mean such chibi-like characters and they play all those cute games, have that club etc ... and then it turns so yah sadistic and violent.

HIGURASHI COSPLAY FTW~ I wanna cosplay Rena.. Because she's basically the only personwith a decent recognisable costume. Or maybe Shion/Mion in the kimono(?)

XD I saw that scene and was just like "WOAH WHUT" and then the opening played... leaving me very confused and kinda disturbed.. >.>

HAHAHA THAT VIDEO IS WIN. The phone one is just epic XDDDD My mum walked in just then while I was watching that and her expression was awesome XD

A dead group would be epic~ Everyone wearing the stuff they died in. We could have Rika and Satoko in their normal out of school dresses (The ones they wore on the night of the soy sauce incident Very Happy

), Rena in her funky white dress and hat etc etc. All covered with blood >D

and yah! I forgot when there was news about it, I think I heard about it early this year but I just looked it up now since I only just remembered about it.
It was already shown in May oO - its the first arc and it looks like they're gonna do a sequel!
