| @sonicreducer I was refering to this with the dub comment

- Lolz, I think theyre both Voice acting over an animation, so theyre just two types of dubs, the japanese is conidered the original because, the anime was made in japan, and dubbed 1st in japanese, I refer to it as J-dub, not usually Original (Even though it is - -'',,,, im contridicting myself again)
and I think that the voices in final fantasy games were irratating
and I think subbing forgein video/games is the best way to go since the out of sync thing that happens with dubs and the lips of the speaker I find annoying |

| Hmm, to be honest I prefer both dubbed and subbed. To me they've both got drawbacks. With dubbed anime, sometimes some of the voices... Are just plain ridiculous. (I remember watching a Cardcaptor movie where Sakuras voice was so high I wanted to hide under my pillow...) With subbed anime, the drawback is that you spend a lot of the time reading the words and not actually seeing what's happening. |

| The only good dubbed anime I've seen is Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl), & the WORST was dubbed Higurashi, everyone sounded like a cheerleader or a jock, it's horrible~ |

| ^Jigoku Shoujo's dub was quite good, but Ai's monotone couldn't have been that hard (the voice actress kinda had it easy for the first half of the season).
I'm just in this thread to say Shana's english voice MADE ME CRY. And that subbed games make me happy. |

| Code Geass' dub is for the most of it pretty damn awesome but omg Nunnally makes your ears want to bleed ;A;
4Kids dubs amuse me, with the fact that it seems NO ONE can say the word Gate and so it ends up sounding like gay >___> 'I use my gay card!' 'No not my gay defender!'
Yea >___>
Wolf's Rain's dub is also amazing <3 <3
I think I probably already said that somewhere in this thread |

| Best... Well I do quite like Fullmetal Alchemist's dub. I hate the higurashi dub, for srs, It's so bad you want to throw it out a window.
But yeah, I hardly watch dubs -.- |

| I prefer dub, simply because when I watch something, I generally do something else at the same time, like homework, etc. So its easier to keep up with the anime if I can understand what they're saying rather than having to keep my eyes glued on the subtitles. Though sub to me sounds better, but I'd rather sacrifice that for convience. |

| Subbed:
I find that when they are dubbed, the companies tend to try to put American stereotypes to Japanese ones, for example, an Osaka accent might be interpreted as a hick accent, or a quiet tall Japanese guy might be turned into a jock.
I also find that the subs text are often different to what the dubs being said are. You tend to miss a lot of references, and/or detail including certain expletives. I also find that I find the characters voices in japanese (pitch, tone etc) are far more close to what I think they'd be. Dubbing tend to make things deeper or sometimes just wrong. In addition, I find when people dub things, they try to make the lips move at the same time as the voice actor says something in english, which (now using a game example) ends up like in Final Fantasy X, where Yuna ends up looking incredibly clueless because she might say something like "And that's something that we all ... ...(pause) feel."
Added edit: I found another thing when reading through some of the other messages. I've got an example of one thing I've found different. Cardcaptors: In the english dub, Sakura sounds far more masculine and older (than she really is) in the english dub. Also, you miss out on a lot of the cute relationships (yes, cutting as well as dubbing is at play here) that happen throughout this series.
So, definitely a sub guy. That being said, there are certain great dubbed anime out there. Cowboy Bebop being one of my favourite.
Anyways, that's just me. |

I noticed this in a Cardcaptors movie, Sakura sounded far more mature than the manga portrays her to be. Although, I did prefer "mature" Sakura to "WHEN I TALK RAINBOWS AND PUPPIES APPEAR <3 <3 <3" Sakura. |

| For those who went to NZAE and saw my panel, you know my stance on this debate.
For those that don't, in my opinion, while good dubs can be few and far between (which is arguable as there are a lot of dubs which I would perceive as good while others may disagree), I will always prefer a good dub over a good sub.
I always give dubs a shot when I get the official DVDs. My general approach is to listen to the first ep dubbed, the second ep subbed and then from that point on go with what I prefer. Although another good idea is to watch the dub with the subs on to match the translation to what the dub actor is saying because it IS different at times. |
