| By responsible I mean social responsibility: It's unfair to other attendees if someone gets injured because of your costume/prop, so the responsible thing to do is make sure that there's no way your costume/prop COULD damage anyone/thing else. However, Armageddon has no set rules about peacebonding for hall cosplay, so 'legally' you're not obliged to. |

| yeah well the blade is only stainless steel and it would take a good thrust to stab someone with it. Even then it would probably get stuck or break making me look like both a murderer and an idiot |

| It doesn't matter if you know how to use it, people around you don't and you can never be sure of that five year old who flies in from nowhere.
Armageddon takes no responsibility if you cause the public concern and they wind up calling the police- which has happened. Adele and Bill have spoken to me about The Incident a few years ago about the police phone call. Luckily they got hold of Adele or things might have got a little further. And court costs for wasting police time are no joke!
That's the official hat on. The unofficial hat says extreme care not just in handling it but in choosing where to handle it is vital. It is so crowded inside that I don't recommend even plastic weapons be displayed (poses for photos are different as you can move into position and be fully aware of those around you*) in fact I have had to rethink my own costume projects several times so as to not wind up heartbroken about things being stepped on or broken.
Just be prepared. And take all sensible precautions you can.
Now as this thread is about the contest not about cosplay in the halls could any more discussion on it be started/moved elsewhere? I thought there was a newbie cosplay guide on here? Or was that proposed for the Geddon forums... |

| Umm yes at AuckGeddon09 some guys pulled my sword out of it's sheath, I didn't notice until i stepped on my gloves(always keeps random objects in her props).
Even though my sword was only made out of plastic, I only took it out for photos, that has nothing to do with the fact I'm lazy.
okay I've forgotten the point of this post>< |

| I'm writing up my registration form but as this is my first time I have a question. When it says describe your character, do you mean personality wise, physically or both? don't want to stuff up my form. |

Personality mainly, as the picutres you provide will cover your characters physicality. |

| This isn't so much to do with contest rules, but Armageddon rules in general (Chchgeddon specifically) - Are there any rules that require you to wear footwear at the convention?
A costume that I'm considering involves bare feet, but I've heard of conventions overseas where bare feet will get you kicked out (presumably for looking too scruffy/hobo/hippie) so I thought I'd better check, just in case.
I guess I could bring shoes and take them off for photos, but I'd rather not have to carry them around all day. |

| It'll be a health and safety issue actually. You can pick up nasty stuff via your feet and being trodden on by the teeming masses hurts even with shoes.
You would have to ask the event staff. I have thought of ways to make it look like I have bare feet for one of my costumes- it involves Pros Aide, thin foam and clear straps. |

I got told off when i went round barefooted at one point (my shoes were killing my feet). They said it was due to safety and health reasons. A good solution is to just wear a pair of Jandles or Slip on shoes that way you can quickly pop them on and off if need be :) |

| yea.. one of my cosplays I think is meant to be in barefoot but I'm going to ninja a pair of jandals into the costume (coz I have long pants that cover most of my foot). Quite exciting actually, I've never owned jandals and my first pair is for cosplay!!! |

| i went bare footed last year for a bit of the expo. yea make sure you walk your shoes in before u wear them, and if you have shoes like mine (beach sandal with cloth over them) wear socks as you mite have sore feet after awhile. i got big blisters from my ninja shoes. thats why i was kinda limping and running round with barefeet lol |

| Question: is it okay if I use wood as a base for a prop? It'll be inside styrofoam and cardboard, so I don't think it'll hurt anyone, it's just that I need a sturdy center for it and I think that'll be the best option... x_X;; |

| Yeah, sort of similar query to the above. My shoes are made of wood (like this) and I'm hoping I'll be able to wear them in the Con. I'm not going to be kicking people or anything in them or anything (unless someone shoves me over on purpose... but I'm not solely responsible for what may come accidentally after that, right? >____>). |

| @neimhaille in regards to this question, - Quote :
- Describe the creation process of YOUR costume, be as descriptive as you can especially detailing how YOU made it and what from:

| It's ok, most fabric stores don't label their fabrics properly anyway ;) Seriously, quite frustrating.
As much as you can say for what you did, don't stress too much about it. |
