Dye stripping By HomicidalHeroine. 14/09/09, 07:46 am |
| My friend is planning to cosplay John Hart from Torchwood next year, and she has a denim jacket which she's planning to strip the colour from and then re-dye red... but she doesn't know whether or not she should use bleach. She's worrying that the chemicals might harm the demin, because she does rather like the style of the jacket itself... so she doesn't want to mess it up.
So is bleach safe to use on denim? If not, what should she use? |

| Don't use bleach! D: Bleach is the devil and will leave it yellowy, blotchy, and yuck!
I don't know how well it works with denim, but dylon produces a product called "dygon" - it's in one of the same tins as their cold water dyes are, but it's got a red lid on the top. It's designed to strip the colour from fabric, so as long as you follow the instructions it doesn't come out blotchy or anything like bleach does. :3 |

| Thanks, Jess n_n I've forwarded this on to her. I'm sure she'll be glad to have some idea of what she can use. |
