Travel options - Chartered bus anyone? By burning batsu. 21/08/09, 09:36 am |
| Ok, so here's the situation. I personally work as a bus driver for a living, so it will be relatively easy for me to organise a bus charter from a set location out to the Events centre for the expo, and possibly back to a set location in the evening (I'm thinking maybe from Britomart to the Event centre, then back to britomart in the evening?), I was thinking this might be a good idea since some people may find it more difficult to get out to greenlane than to get to the Aotea centre since there is not as many frequent public bus services out that way to my knowledge, if there IS, it is probably run by one of the competing bus companies. Also being an employee, I can get a charter bus for MUCH cheaper than it would cost for someone else to hire it. Obviously this service would NOT be restricted to CNZ members, if you have friends and/or family that want to take the bus to save a bit of fuel money, so much the better!
What I am wanting to know is how many people would be interested in a charter bus leaving at say 7-7.30am from Britomart, arriving at the event centre at around 8ish, then leaving from the event centre at say 6.15pm heading back to britomart?
For this to go ahead, I would require a BARE MINIMUM of 25 people that would be interested and be willing to confirm their slot in advance (I will not be able to do this free of charge, but the more people that are willing to take the bus, the cheaper it would be per person to get there.) |

| I think it's a bloody good idea. Admittedly I don't know Auckland very well, and as far as I'm aware of from town I should be able to bus to Aotea centre easily, I can imaging how hard it can be for some other areas.
(Incidentally, using the official route planner is hilarious. My recommendation for getting to the event by 7.30am is to start walking at 2.12am. Best part? It only takes about an hour and half to walk there. What am I going to do for the next two hours and fifty or so minutes, hmm?) |
