Bankai is the full release mode of a shinigami's zanpakutou where they fully release the power of their sword spirit. Basically it's the highest form of power available for a shinigami. It should be noted that every captain-class character in Bleach has one, most haven't revealed what theirs is though.

In simple words though, bankai is a Bleach character's super special awesome ultimate attack or attack mode.

His isn't too interesting. His shikai is also cherry blossoms, and his bankai is just MORE cherry blossoms.

Still. He's the only male character that can play with flowers and still retain his manlyness. Unlike Marlu-kun.

No, but it's really hard to get. And you can only be a captian if you have reached Bankai.

Ikkaku has also reached bankai, but he hasn't told anyone because he doesn't want to be captian (or something).

It it takes ten years to achieve it, and another 10 or so to master it.
Though if you use Urahara's technique you can achieve it in three days. But I think thats just cheating >_<

No that was getting Ichigo to regain his powers as a shinigami. Ichigo gained his bankai by fighting his sword spirit for 3 days straight trying to find the right sword to be able to hit him as the right sword would unlock his bankai.

It's also a bit of a lie saying all the captains have bankai as Kenpachi doesn't have bankai, he's just really really powerful. The only characters known to have a bankai that aren't captain class are Ichigo, Ikkaku and Renji.
