Cosplay photography PRESENTATION!
Post By Static. 04/09/09, 11:59 am

Oh look, it's another thread on PHOTOS OMGGGGG all of the photos in the world is what I have. And I will be having more, and I need a bit of help on what to do with them! I have a ton that I want to use, but how to structure them is eluding me. I have a few ideas, such as:

- a mock magazine layout (though this means a hell of a lot more work, and I'm not convinced I'll have time or enough content to fill the pages)
- a profile look at cosplayers, with a little interview with each person and some photos of them (a couple portraits and one or two really strong images)
- a look at cosplay in general, more like a traditional 'photobook' - an intro talking about cosplay and what it is, and then a book full of images not focusing on any one person

I'm pretty stuck on the book idea because it's really the only affordable (HA!) option for presentation. I actually really love the idea of doing a show, but for what it costs in time, energy and strain on my already highly strung nerves, I just don't think I'd pull it off. I have the option of doing a website or some kind of multimedia presentation (a DVD or slideshow) but they just seem kinda tacky, unless it's so far left of centre and so abstract and arty you can't TELL that it's tacky. I dunno, maybe I'm just an art snob Cosplay photography PRESENTATION! Icon_razz (lol for those who get the joke.)

So yeah, any thoughts? I am especially interested in hearing what models have to say, so if I've shot with you and you have two cents to chuck in, I am all ears! And if I haven't shot with you, can I have your two cents anyway? Cosplay photography PRESENTATION! Icon_biggrin ILUGAIZ

Ooo a DVD slideshow could be pimping with the right music!
But I like the idea of the "profile look at cosplayers", having a little something to read along with photos makes it more interesting. nodnod

I like options 2 and 3. But then also think about how much work you have to put into either of them, would you have time to do them they way you'd like? Best bet would be to do the option that can turn out the way you like without too much stress!

The 3rd option sounds pretty good, maybe you could add some comments from the cosplayers about what cosplay means to them or why they chose that character/outfit, or something about inspiration, etc.

I'm personally drawn to the website idea, maybe cause i live on the web Razz or profile book. Have you had a look at blackmage9.deviantart.com before? She's a really cool cosplayer who has done many interviews . I like how she layouts her page view. may that could spark up some more ideas.

i personally like option 2 the most. Though if option 3 is the easiest for you to do by all means do it, though i still think option 2 is better <3

Lol...this sucks, I like all three, and so does everyone else! What I'm doing now is doing some tests to see what looks most research-y: because it's a research paper, but a fun kind of subject, I'm going to have to make it enough of an in-depth look at cosplay to make it academically credible, but not so much it gets stuffy. Although let's face it; it's hard to be stuffy when it's a book full of geeks in costume...XD

Yeah that really didn't get me anywhere. Arbitrary post is arbitrary.
