2010 Wellington Cosplay Ball! - update 1/2/10

...the Wellington Cosplay Ball!

The Society for the Promotion of Cosplay Culture was born out of the planning for the WCB and aims to help further the skills of cosplayers nationwide through the provision of skills, resources and contacts. We also aim to help cosplay-related events gain a better public understanding of what it is we love about the hobby :)

The WCB will have a theme of.....drumroll please...STEAMPUNK! This doesn't mean you have to come dressed in Steampunk style, but rather provide inspiration should it be needed.

The ball will be open to the general public, and will (hopefully) be bigger and flashier than any ball before! Well, some of them anyway. Information below!

Details:
Date: 24th April, 2010
Time: 7pm - 12am
Venue: Capital E, Civic Square, Wellington
Attire: Formal cosplay/steampunk
Ticket price: $40 presales, $50 on the door - door price is YET TO BE CONFIRMED. SPCC members may pay for their tickets in two parts - a non-refundable 50% deposit, with the remainder to be paid for within 30 days.

To purchase a ticket - electronic transfers are awesome. If you make a deposit for your ticket, please include your forum username as reference, and fill in this form. Physical tickets have now been printed, but due to the short timeframe until the ball are only available in person or to be picked upon the door. Cash payments before the ball will only be accepted in person, and at a time when a receipt can be provided.

***Performers***
First performer confirmed! We will proudly be hosting the magical Ms Vashti Morningstar, a fabulous Wellington-based bellydancer of some repute! She practises two styles of dance - oriental and tribal, and is putting together a Steampunky piece just for us.

We will also be hosting the exceptionally talented and utterly charming Lucy Morris! Lucy will be arranging something spectacular for the night, and we very much look forward to having her :)

Date is set and confirmed - it's the weekend after Geddon. Because the venue is so kid-centric, anytime in the school holidays was out of the question. sad

yeah the Venue couldnt be better. so we had to go with that date.
Plus we didnt know if they would be doing a ball as part of geddon again, like they are in Auckland. so we thought we make is safe and far enough away.

I can see why that's a bummer, but the plus side is, people won't be too tired after 'geddon for it.

I'm normally quite pooped after a whole day/weekend of it so it's not so bad when you think of it.

Plus it means we could announce it at 'geddon and get more people there? Just an idea. (if no ones suggested it already XD)

I did a full mask at last ball, dancing plus Darthvader mask = uncomfortably sweaty and horrible x.x

Haha true it is sweaty and discomforting but ive been wearing full suited outfits for a while now im quite use to it and I also have fans in my helmet to keep it vented out longest I went wearing my suit was about 5 hours non stop XD.
