| ScrewAttack's coverage of FFXIII
ScrewAttack did a kind of sneak peek at Final Fantasy XIII, currently it looks really good - especially with the gameplay.

| Meh.
Final Fantasy isn't really even that interesting to me anymore... 12 was an utter disappointment considering the wait and 13 doesn't even look like a Final Fantasy game anymore.
Square should create a new franchise or something? And yes I am aware of it's other ones, but they're all getting a bit stale.
Also, could they please make GUYS look like GUYS for freaking once! |

| Theres at least 1 manly man in each game xD. And some of their one-shot games could be turned into decent franchises. |

| Yeah, I know there's usually one guy... Maybe. But 12 never had one, neither did 8 for that matter XD
I'd like to see a sequel to Project Sylpheed for example! |

| I want to see a World Ends With You sequel. They really should drop the name Final Fantasy from their games. It creates a lot of expectation to have the game a certain way. |

| The video shows off some nice gameplay, in my opinion. The battle system seems promising, and the afro guy has a CHOCOBO IN HIS 'FRO. |

| (@DB - XII pretty much WAS a pre/sequel all by itself.)
I am looking forward to the Fabula Nova Crystallis a LOT myself. >D
I've been following it real closely and I'm glad to see that they're bringing back manly men, decent clothing, surnames and chocobos (they sort of slipped on these a bit after IX/X imho). XII wasn't that good, unfortunately... there were quite a few things they could've done better on that one.
I saw the long demo and it was good. Gameplay looks great, graphics look great. Storylines look great (as far as I've read of them), dubbing currently sounding real good! (the real dub, not the IGN or VAA crack/fandubs). List of composers looks great!
Final Fantasy XIII - hiring back Nobuo Uematsu (not even retirement could stop him from an offer like this, haha) Final Fantasy Versus XIII - Yoko Shimomura Final Fantasy Agito XIII - Takeharu Ishimoto
Okay I'll stop now.

Sahz (guy with the afro) is kinda cool. He gets the most lines and his image is based on Lionel Richie :). |

| Lightning's character design is a female version of Cloud officially ;D
And Maqui's outfit is based off a Snowboarder's outfit. Which I think is damn cool. <3 |

Glad they are bringing Motorbikes into the series ;3
It is pretty gross making a female ice-woman into a bike.
But Shiva was always, pretty much the summon/ Aeon/ Esper sex object of the series.
Where the Final Fantasy main leads ever that manly though ?
Mean look at Cecil from IV. He has long wavy hair to his shoulders and wears purple lipstick.

| Balthier and Basch were both pretty manly, and they were arguably more important than Vaan in FFXII.
And Tidus wasn't too girly, in terms of appearance. Though I could say differently about his personality... |

| @ Pyro - heck, ALL of them were more important than Vann. He was the most dull lead character I've ever come across.
Also, am I the only one who wants a final fantasy that's more...well...traditional fantasy? I loved 9 and 10 because of that, but could never get into 7, and 13 looks to be the same right now. :< |

| dude, if you want traditional fantasy you might as well go and play the myriad of non-ff rpgs out there. fantasy rpgs are hardly a neglected genre, yeah?
i like ff for the exact reason that some of them aren't actually generic fantasy.
laguna pretty damn manly. |

I know what you mean. 7 was great, but right now 13 is looking pretty poor-- and I really do prefer the fantasy-oriented games more, from what I know.
In any case, I can recommend you a few games you might like Kylie, if you prefer the actual fantasy FF games. Off the top of my head I can think of two series you'd probably get into. C= |

.. FF13 is looking.. Okay-ish..
Just worried about the storyline, the storyline just sounds really confusing..
The characters look great though.
And the Fighting style looks great ..
Dunno, Really hopeful towards FF13.. |

| ^Amenplz. On a kind of related-nonrelated thing, once during drama class about two years ago Marina asked me if Sephiroth's surname shouldn't be Strife or something as well - I said "Well, funny thing actually that..." and proceeded to spend the rest of the period explaining EVERYTHING in the backstory before coming to the end result. >.> |

-brick'd- yeah
but the guy's limit break / desperation move is him jumping on a rope that appears from nowhere and then throwing a grenade and shooting like crazy which i think i right up there on the manly raging badass scale. also presuming squall is his son that means he's clearly man enough to get someone pregnant.
i'm actually more looking forward to ffxiii versus (even though the main character's name is noctis and he looks like an emo physics) because it's an action rpg, and it's meant to be 'darker' and 'more realistic'. which would be cool, but the aforementioned protagonist has a bunch of flying sword circling around his head, which has me wondering about se’s definition of realism. hopefully it'll be more difficult than kingdom hearts, anyway. :C
+ wtf is wrong with names that are actually names rather than nouns????? |

Re: Final Fantasy XIII Gameplay + Cutscenes By Li-Bai. 20/06/09, 04:56 am |
| XDD ROFLMAO! True, very true.
I'm gonna give you +1 karma for the man enough to get someone pregnant comment xD
Whaddaya mean 'even though'? Noctis Lucius Caelum is damn awesome name 8D Supposedly it's meant to translate to 'Light of the Night Sky'. But then again they incorrectly inflected Stella's name, so who knows.... Nah, he's not emo. He's shy but he tries to hide it by acting cool
I did some of the scriptwriting for the Versus Jump Festa trailer for an English fandub on the VAA. I had to translate some of the lines myself, but I can tell you from the way Noctis talks he's not emo xD In fact, he succeeds in being very cool. :3
I think the swords combine to make his falchion. I think. Realistic? lololol. Noctis does some ninja wall running while attacking dozens of enemies after him. It's probably 'slightly more realistic than the others', maybe. Who knows though. I'm looking forward to them all either way.
Ironic you should mention that since the composer for Versus is the one who composed for the Kingdom Hearts games 8D
xD Because it's not cool? I dunno xD It's a Square thing I guess. They love their nature 8D Terra, Celes, Cloud, Squall, Laguna (whose surname is the name of a river in France), Tidus, Yuna... Lightning, Snow, Stella and Noctis. I might have left some out...
(I love that Snow's name is Snow and yet he still looks sexy and manly though. Rallion was right, Irvine's long-lost brother really is sort of more hip than him. Aww. But I still love you Irvine ) |

'Fantasy' Final Fantasy games are ttly 9. >w< FF9 ftw.
But you might be interested in the earlier Final Fantasies! I know FFI and FFII are very fantasy-ish. You might like FF3 as well. It's possible that you'll like FF4... but there is a bit of a non-fantasy thing that involves
- Spoiler:
Going to the mooooooooon~~~ but no in a spaceship of course. xD I think you teleport using magic or something. FF4 is still a good game though.
You must also play the Tactics games! The first Tactics is like... archaic fantasy. xDD The nobles are all like "Lord Brother" and stuff. It's amusing, but very hard. Tactics Advance and Tactics Advance 2 are fangasmic and quite fantasy indeed, you are teleported to the dimension of Ivalice by the Gran Grimoire. :3 There's also uuhh...
I've never played the Crystal Chronicles but I think they're mostly fantasy...

This was probably a useless post. [runs away] |
