CNZ Short Film Festival

This is a really cool idea that's been suggested by rayjin. Hope that it picks up!

Cosplay New Zealand Short Film Festival

So here's the idea. We got Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch groups here on the CNZ forums amongst many other - within those groups, each 'district' is to create a short film around 30 minutes long (?) based on a given theme. These films go to compete against each other and the winner gets to pick the theme for the next round, since we're all poor and probably can't afford expensive cash prizes, haha.

(I wasn't too sure on whether there's only one set group per 'district' or whether there can be multiple groups - I'm leaning towards the second one since some people live far out.)

The theme suggested for this first round is 'Within the Dragonball Universe'. Should be fun ;)

The due date has been suggested to be around the time of Auckland Armageddon, giving us around six months, but this coooouuuuld be tentative because I know things can get hella busy and there are exams around that time. Who knows?

Anyway, help me out here people. Yay or nay?

(Suggest it for an announcement or something, because I don't have the permission to make topics in that forum, heh.)

ooo it could be like the CNZ version of the 48 Hour Film Comp, except you know, not 48 hours....that was hell when I did that.....:S

XD I'll bet it was. Hmmm... we could take aspects of that? Say, include a prop/quote you have to use...

THIS SOUNDS AWESOME. although, i would suggest maybe less than 30 mins? maybe 10 mins max? i know that scripting/video editing/filming/organizing even 10 minutes of video takes a really long time, and plus, 10 minutes is the limit for youtube? haha idk.

i'm not a huge fan of DBZ, but it could be hilarious. 8D are you giving out genres like the 48 hour film comp?

lol yeah i was thinking 30min cause if we run them 2gether on say a "DVD" it would run for a cool time.
I say for the first time i would like to try for 30min also cause if it be a Dragonball theme we could have = story and fight times.
but hey either way is cool.
As for the teams thingeach area Welly Auck and ChCh can decide that if they want one big team or a couple of smaller ones thats cool.
Big team = more people to get things done.
But like i say either way is cool

30 minutes = DEATH for editing. It's very difficult to keep an audience interested for that long - I agree with Seraphik, 10 minutes would be much better.

i'd be in but i'd recon for the first say a 10 15 min limit and insted of a theme have a genre and a quote like the 48 hr film fest. that way it gives it a little more scope and god we did a 3 min movie and the fight seen in that took most of a day to film and i was brused.
we would have to get it finalised and agreed on soon. auckland is creeping up
