| No, they don't hurt, and no you can't buy cosmetic contact lenses from a pharmacy. You can, however, buy them on trademe, |

| They don't hurt if inserted correctly, but can be uncomfortable the first few times you wear them, which is why if you're new to wearing them to try put them in for like an hour, the next day 3 hours, next day 6 hours until you can wear them a full day this is so your eyes get use to some foreign object in your eye. Also if you get an airbubble/s under your contact when you put them in they can hurt but you just take it out and try again |

| And you can get coloured contacts from the kinds of places that sell "tabacco pipes" and flouro lights, large flags with Jamacian colours on them and BZP and relatives :) We have at least two in Central Wellington, I'm sure there are more about the place. |

| They're really itchy and uncomfortable for me... But I think that's because I was allergic to my old ones. Owie. YwY Got new ones now but I haven't tried them yet. Too scared. XD
But my general understanding is no, they're not meant to hurt. :3 |

| What's the chance of an allergic reaction? And does anybody know if there is any real danger to using them just for a short time? I need them for my Alucard cosplay. |

| As long as they're not second hand, and you clean them properly and use them safely, it should be fine. Just don't do anything stupid like clean them with your tongue and then put them back in (true story - a famous boxer did it, lost his sight). :)
If you're really worried, check with an optometrist - just explain that you're after cosmetic contact lenses. :3 |

Re: Eye Contacts? By LithiumCrystal. 27/02/09, 04:44 am |
| Sorry to double post, but I am having a bit of trouble with my contacts... I got my red contact lenses for my Alucard cosplay the other day, and because of all the horror stories on the net, I've been treating them like regular contact lenses. I've got my multi-purpose solution, a lens case and a spare lens case, bla bla bla. I know how to insert and remove them safely, I know how to clean and care for them... Problem: My left eye is just fine. He loves the contacts. My stupid right eye, however, does not. He always thinks there is something trapped underneath the contact lens, but there isn't! I clean and rinse them throughly in solution, and there are no visible problems with the lens. I even flush my eye out to make sure. It happened yesterday and today as well. Could there be a problem with my eye, or is it something I can't see about the lens that is the problem? When I take the lens out, my eye seems fine, leading me to believe it must be the lens, but I CAN'T see anything wrong with it. It's clean, it's not inside out, it's wet, it's not torn or chipped. Hypothetically, if I sterilize my lenses again, and use the one for my right eye in my left eye and it feels the same as it does in my right eye (and I know it's the lens) is there anything I can do about it, because it doesn't look like there is something wrong with it. If it turns out to be my eye... Uh, that's a little bit creepy... I don't know what I'll do about that. |

| Out of curiousity, do you have prescription contact lenses as well?
I suffer from the same problems even with my normal lenses (woohoo, I'm blind!). Do the hypothetical test thingy, but I think you'll find it's either a) momentary discomfort which may disappate after about 15 minutes b) an air bubble under the lense c) Your right eye may have a different shape to your left eye, hence the discomfort, in which case I can only suggest visiting an optometrist and seeing if they can confirm this for you. |

| Lol. Even from the beginning when I first used lenses four years ago - I just shoved them in my eye. >_>;; Its become a natural thing now. Slip in. Slip out. You get used to it. Just make sure you clean it and take care of properly, if you don't, you can get blind.
But don't listen to me, I'm weird. Srs.
Take JVCA's advice, ITS GOOD ADVICE. Don't shove contacts into your eye like I do >> |

| Well, I got my wig today, and it solved my problem. Because it covers one side of my face entirely, I only have to wear the one lens. ^.^ Hahaha, good old Alucard wig. I figured out it had to be the lens in the end, btw. |
