Watchmen? [Looking to borrow] By Freddie. 21/01/09, 05:24 am |
| You people and you're stupid raving about it. That and the fact that i just read Alan Moore (that Joker one>___>) I want to read it so bad now. Does anyone have a copy that i could borrow? or even one they could just bring to town one day, let me power read it then give it back?
Mucho appreciated |

| Have you tried a Library? When I wanted to read it, I found a copy at my school library. 8D Brilliant find. |

| A ~ The school has some kinda grudge against comics, graphic novels and manga.
B ~ we have half a shelf of "Graphic Novels" at our Local Library. That's Manga, Comics and anything else you could class as "Graphic" and a "Novel" |

| Your school sucks. So does your Local Library. Our Library has a whole freaking wall of graphic novels/manga. It's awesome.
Tell you what. If I ever manage to get a copy of Watchmen for myself (which is near impossible, I can't even afford underwear right now), I'll let you borrow it. |

Actually, we could go halves on one if that work's for you. I'd just read it while i was in town and then you'd take it home. |

| Halves?? That would be brilliant. Perfect even. Oh why does Watchmen have to be so damn freaking expensive...as in out of my minimal price range. Dx |

| Definitely. But not this Saturday's one. I can't make this Saturday. Although a warning, it's a pretty big damn book. You won't be able to finish it in an afternoon. |

Re: Watchmen? [Looking to borrow] By KotoneVersus. 21/01/09, 11:04 am |
| I'm not sure. I haven't checked that thread regarding this Saturday. Doesn't look like anythings going to be organised anyway. Dx
Now, the difference between Twilight and Watchmen is very very very very very vast.
Think GOOD = Watchmen and ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE = Twilight.
As Twilight was relatively easy to read and follow, you could read it pretty fast. Watchmen is FAR more complex. |

Re: Watchmen? [Looking to borrow] By Freddie. 21/01/09, 11:06 am |
| The entire twilight series seems very complicated mowing through it at 3am.
Well, i could at least go through it and pick up main plot points. I have more books on speed-reading than i do on reading so... |

Re: Watchmen? [Looking to borrow] By KotoneVersus. 21/01/09, 11:28 am |
| There is nothing complicated about Twilight. Dx It's just stupid.
Anyway. The brilliance of Watchmen isn't based on plot points, it's based on ideas. It's made to screw with your head. The plot won't screw with your head. Dx
But yeah, I suppose you could give it a go. Speed reading won't offer you the true Watchmen experience. |

After you read it the first time, you want to go through it again and look at the illustrations, man....such a great novel
@Fred: Doc Manhattan is complicated just in himself...His chapters are awesomely confuzzlilying

| Probably cheaper to go in the suit. And less likely to get kicked out of the cinema. Are you doing your eyes white and going bald as well?
@SilverSpectre: Dr. Manhatten made Watchmen for me I thought. The rest was still good... But Dr. Manhatten made it absolutely brilliant. |

| Yes, white eyes *Still has Zombie contacts* . The Bald cap is the last thing i need if i go in a suit. If i go in speedos then i need the chest peice. |

| @KotoneVersus: Yeah I love him...But My favourites have to be The Comedian and Rorschach...
Rorschach shows that Humanity sometimes has to be put aside to truly destroy evil
and The Comedian, well I just love him...If I had to have a crush on a Comic/Graphic Novel Character, he would be it Hehe

| @SilkSpectre: B-but... Rorschach!! D: Rorschach is so COOL. His mask is all shiny and silvery and shimmery and lots of things that start with the letter S and he's so...COOL. He had freckles!! They were adorable. Dx
But the thing that made Dr. Manhatten so cool was that scene on Mars where he 'observes every facet of time simultaneously' and the idea he presented about humanity being such primitive minded creatures they can only observe one facet at a time...

| I saw a part of it in the trailer where he created the castle on Mars. It looked intense. I'm SO excited.
That chapter was definitely my favourite. It's the one that made me feel like I had been screwed with my whole life, that I had been looking at my existence the completely wrong way...
D: It screwed with me baaaad-butinagoodway. |
