Need help finding and buying a wig!

Well, I'm looked for a wig for my second costume~ Rena from Higurashi.
BUT, I don't know how long the wig needs to be for me to cut if it's not in the right style...
~~And, the colour.... I just don't which one can be dyed to get the right colour, or one that doesn't need dyeing (AKA already the right colour).~~
~~I've been thinking that I may be able to dye the wig with Sharpies, but I can't find a shop around where I live that sells different colours like brown or orange.~~
Found it! It's gonna be Fire Red from Cosworx's new look selection~

I've been looking on CosWorx, and eBay, and I've seen a few which may be suitable. But I've got a budget and it's around $40~$80 NZD now...

As you can see, her hair is very short, and should be able to be achieved with a short wig.... since the longest part of her hair cut goes down to her shoulders, and the shortest bit is the top of her neck at the back. :/
But if you has more experience at these type of hairstyles, please offer your awesome advice, wig-meisters.
Would this wig work? It has the new Fire Red colour, and I think a bit of cutting would be required at the back, but it seems to fit my needs as close as I can get. :)

I am not very experienced at wigs but if you got any style wig that was her colour then cut it?
Maybe take it to a hairdresser and pay them to style it *LOL*

Ah, the copper colour seems the nearest... only if it was a bit less red...

Thanks for the replies guys, I've been dying to get some... and the wig style Stephens gave me was awesome - seems like I can cut it to get the right style. ^_^

EDIT: this one seems almost perfect, just some cutting, but the colour's too dark!

BUMP - sorry for the double post...

Guys... I went wig hunting and I found some wigs...

Some help/opinions please? :3

This one has almost the right length and almost the right style, the fringe would need slight trimming I guess, but the colour's wrong/ Am I able to change the colour to a orangey light brown?

This one is also nice, but it's the wrong colour and would need cutting/styling. Am I able to change the wig into the one I want?

Styling is easier than dyeing a wig. I'd just try to find one the right colour and cut it. OUt of the two listed, I'd say the first if you had to. Good choice of character, by the way. Hauu~~~

I'd be tempted to say that you should consider, at least, checking in the couch, doing some extra chores, and bumping up your budget to $80. With the current exchange rate, you'll be lucky to find a nice one for under $55 or so. Wigs just suck up so much of your budget xD

Better to find the right colour I'll say. It looks more like an auburn to me... Actually, Cosworx's Fire red colour, as seen here looks good to me. Though that's only for New Look, so you'll have to scout around for a wig of that brand that would work.

Ohhhh.... that Cog & Marc one doesn't look bad... but the colour is a bit too reddish. :/

Yeah, only New Look wigs will have that colour, you'll have to get a wig of that brand, BUT, New Look has a big selection, so its not a big problem.

I think the Maxine one from Cosworx would be a nice suitable one. Should I also grab a wig cap as well? Since I don't have one. What colour? Brown?
