PAtterns? By Freddie. 18/01/09, 04:44 am |
| Someone should make a patterns idex here. Because all the ones i've looked at contain almost dtrictly Japanese stuff (kiminos ect).
On another pattern note ~ Does anyone know of an online Vest pattern? Preferably for Riku, but i'm open to altering. |

| For Riku maybe look at at Skivvy pattern?
I never use online patterns, printing them all out when I only have access to A4 paper has always seemed like WAY too much effort. I get the paper patterns from Spotlight/Arthur Toye/Evans's (there used to be one in Pram but I don't think there is anymore). They're about 8-20 bucks and very re-usable and alterable. And a nice big range too.
I'm nearly finished my "Using Paper Patterns for Complete Newbies" and I'll pre-emptively post that for you :) |

| As soon as you said Skivvy i thought "Wake Up, Jeff!" >__>" So you're saying to use the skivvy pattern... I'd need to cross it with some kind of jacket to get the zip right *Fails at Sewing*
We have NO sewing supplies here. Unless you want Sheep Skin from Levin, you have to drive to Spotlight in Porirua D: .
OH JOY! *Wait eagerly for Post* |

| Man, I know for a fact there used to be an Evans' at Coastlands. Or there is Edhouses in Otaki - down by the library. That has sewing supplies but I don't think it has patterns.
As for Riku, I thought you meant this: http://www.phantomcastle.it/phantom/varie_file/khearts_file/KH%20Riku_mano.jpg which would be pretty easy using a skivvy pattern with HUGE piping and using different colours for the different panels.
If you mean this http://www.phantomcastle.it/phantom/varie_file/khearts_file/KH%20Riku_mano.jpg then yeah, vest pattern, definately. I have a 16C vest pattern I could lend, but it would need some mods. |

| Arthur Toyes on Willis street currently have 50% off all patterns until the end of Jan I think.
I like real patterns. The paper is spiffy. (But I'm good at losing them OTL) |

| I've got a whole bag full of patterns, given to me by mum's friend. But they're all like, 70's and 80's female patterns. Mostly dresses. If you live around me I won't mind trying to arrange something for you to browse through them, and borrow one if you find one you like/need/fancy.
I found a dress pattern that I'm using to base off my Rena cosplay. It's the first time I've used a commercial pattern. |

| Indeed. XD
Otherwise, you can experiment by making your own patterns. Do it on butcher paper, or something. |

| On the off chance, does anyone have a skivvy pattern i could use. 2 or three of my cosplays have a skivvy, or something derived from a skivvy.
MUCHLY APPRECIATED YES? |

No idea who here has seen this, but this is a free pattern site with some really nifty pieces! I don't use patterns myself but Ihave been inspired by the coat with sleeves cut in one.
This would also be a very handy source for getting familiar with patterns as you can print them out both full size (have look at their explanation how) but also as one page (I think, they are pdfs- easy enough to make a screen grab and print that anyway) so you can practice in a small scale.
Also really handy to show how printed patterns often don't have quite the same shape as the illustrations- less flare in skirts usually) as they are usually computer graded.
Off to add it to my Cosplay hand out (which will soon be on my site as I'm changing hosts to get more storage!) |
