This is my Dissidia FAQ and stuff...

please ask any questions you may feel need answering!

Spoilers for anyone who doesnt want to know what gameplay is like or what characters are released.

PLEASE VIEW THE SUPPORT SECTION TO SPREAD THE WORD!





If you dont know, Dissidia : Final Fantasy is a 3d fighting game for the PSP. You can play as 10 heroes and 10 villains from each Final Fantasy ranging from I - X with some extra characters from I believe XI and XII.




Dissidia : Final Fantasy has a unique fighting system, yet strangely fun. You have 2 points, your Brave Points and your HP. Your HP is pretty simple, if it reaches 0 you die. But how does this get damaged? Well by attacking with the O button you use a Brave attack which steals Brave Points from your enemy. The [] button will use an HP attack with deals all of your Brave Points accumulated into your opponents HP.

This may sound complicated, but in battle it feels just right and thinking about the right time to unleash those 1000 Brave Points onto your opponent is awesome. You may be thinking 'How do I pull off stunning combos and such?' Well you can customize your character with equipment and you guessed it, skills. You can set 3 skills for the following : Ground Brave Attacks, Aerial Brave Attacks, Ground HP Attacks and Aerial HP Attacks. These can also get special extensions to make the attack longer and deal more damage. So while the game is simple, you can make your own style of character and build your own combos!

Fighting games usually have some kind of 'Super Move' this isn't lacking in Dissidia either, these are called EX Bursts. You can build up your EX Gauge and then use it to go into a stronger mode (eg. Zidane goes into Trance/Sephiroth gains a wing) You can then unleash your super move in a mini cutscene and minigame, if you get it right you can deal a whole lot of damage on your opponent. You also may be thinking 'How long does it take to charge this?!' Well, in true retrospect... it takes very long. Thats why there are EX Cores that spawn on the field now and then. Each kind gives you a certain bost to your EX Gauge from a quarter to completely full!

So Dissidia : Final Fantasy has a unique fighting style but still proves to be extremely fun and action packed.




The part you have all been waiting for, the complete cast of Dissidia : Final Fantasy. If you've played any Final Fantasy you should know 1 or 2 of these characters. I shall try to my extent to explain their fighting style, note that I havent tried all characters so some of this might be wrong.

FINAL FANTASY I

Hero : Warrior of Light

The generic hero, this time not looking so 8-bitty! He uses a sword and shield and is very balanced. He has strong moves and is perfect for a beginner to get a hang of the game.

Villain : Garland

You were all expecting this, Garland is said to be a Power Attacker and deal powerful blows, he compensates speed but when he gets close its sure to get ugly!

FINAL FANTASY II

Hero : Firion (sp?)

The hero from FF II, this hero is a weapons specialist and is very versatile with many weapons at his disposal. With daggers to axes to bows, you have something for every situation!

Villain : The Emperor

The villain of the series, this character has many traps to lay down. Lead unsuspecting opponents into your trap and then go in for the kill!

FINAL FANTASY III

Hero : Onion Knight

Those that were expecting Luneth, too bad Instead we have this small fighter, he can use quick sword attacks or use awesome magic abilities. The Onion Knight can also transform into the Ninja or Sage in his EX Mode. Perfect for people who like fast characters but strong!

Villain : Cloud of Darkness

Unfortunately, I dont have much about this character. It says shes an HP Breaker so she must drain hp or something? Ill fix this later xD

FINAL FANTASY IV

Hero : Cecil

Ah Cecil, an awesome hero. Named the Style Maker, that is completely true because Cecil can transform between Dark Knight and Paladin! Create your own style with strong attacks and quick attacks combined!

Villain : Golbez

Noted as the Psychic Fighter, Golbez is very technical and has many magic attacks at his arsenal. (Lol arse) He is best at mid-range and is for experienced players that can use his powers to his advantage.

FINAL FANTASY V

Hero : Bartz

This character is very strange, he can mimic other heroes' moves and modify them to his own style. While being fast and agile, he can also use strong moves from other characters, perfect for the player who likes to have some variation.

Villain : Ex Death

The slowest character in the game, Ex Death is all about counters. If you can master parrying at the right time, you can beat anyone! He also has one of the strongest Ex Bursts in the game, great for the most advanced players who have a good sense of timing.

FINAL FANTASY VI

Hero : Terra

Magic Magic Magic, the only female hero in the game, Terra Branford can put out some serious whooping when her enemies are afar. Just use a vast array of magic to win the battle easily!

Villain : Kefka

I really dont know much about Kefka, it says Trick Star as a description so ill leave that to you Nah jokes ill fix this later too.

FINAL FANTASY VII

Hero : Generic oops I mean Cloud

Cloud, the gravity defying big sword carrying generic hero. He's basically all about smashing and blowing your enemy away with strong hits, even though he seems quite fast to me.

Villain : Sephiroth (Plays One Winged Angel)

I really couldnt believe they made his sword so powerful here 0_o Anyway, Sephiroth to me is all about keeping your enemy away with long sword swings that combo up really fast. His attacks are slow but can reach out really far, his Ex Mode is also cool since he gets his wing and has that attack that puts you to 1 HP/MP but in this case its Brave

FINAL FANTASY VIII

Hero : Squall

Squall is all about the combos, he can drain an enemies Brave Points really fast with a combination of sword swings and gun shots.

Villain : Ultimecia

Magic Shooter? Im guessing she uses fast magic? Sorry guys im not too sure about some things, ill fix them.

FINAL FANTASY IX

Hero : Zidane

The quick hero with amazing aerials, Zidane can pull of speedy aerial combos and then finish your off, plus his weapons are badass.

Villain : Kuja

The Range Master, Kuja has most of his attacks from afar and can devestate you but in addition has some brutal close range attacks that can kill you in a single hit!

FINAL FANTASY X

Hero : Tidus

My favourite character, Tidus is all about the speed and dodges. He can pull of backflips and then unleash hell with a single blitzball! Plus his Brotherhood Sword is rendered really well in Dissidia.

Villain : Jecht

Jecht is a pretty cool character, get up close and then get ready to spam that O button. Jecht is named the Ultimate Infighter because he can rip you to shreds... twice.

EXTRAS

Shantotto

Not much I can say, havent even seen this character in gameplay. Named the chain speller I can only expect that Shantotto uses spells in unison.

Gabranth

Now this character is unique, Gabranth has no HP moves. Instead he is all about charging the EX Gauge. He charges faster while holding down the [] button and can easily wipe someone out with his EX Burst.

Where can I get Dissidia : Final Fantasy? :

You can always rely on Play-Asia to get imports, if your PSP is modded theres always downloads of ISOs but I cant help you there xD

Is the game in english? :

Nope, this game is all in its Japanese glory! There are 2 guides that I use :

Dissidia_Mini_Guide.jpg for menus and controls
ENGRISH GUIDE! for practically everything (skills, equipment..)

Is ____ in this game? :

Check the character section, if you are a total fanboy of such things as Advent Children Cloud or crap there is an alternate costume for each character.

Whats the Story Mode like? (Asker : Admin/Alex) :

The Story Mode... I cant say much for it. In each stage there is a board, you get to move around the board with your chosen character. You have a certain amount of Destiny Points and move around until you get to the Chaos Symbol at which you go onto the next stage. Its very tedious but you can get special items for your character if you finish with a good amount of Destiny Points, by the way everytime you try and move (You can move as far as you want until you hit an enemy or something) and that wastes up 1 Destiny Point. Ill get an image of it up soon (Or a video)

Is this game easy for inexperienced players? (Asker : Admin/Alex) :

Well, depends on which character you use. I really suggest to set the computer to lowest settings and playing Cloud, Warrior of Light or Cecil as they are very easy to play and are quite strong. If you are bad at 2d fighters, then this is very easy to pick up. Its quite free roam, well considering the size of maps and in my opinion this game is great for any gamer!

Is Zidane super totally awesome liek he should be? (Asker : Admin/Alex) :

Zidane is pretty good actually! His aerial combos will pwn your characters Brave Points and yep... just make sure you stay in the air and Zidane is pretty awesome! Note he also has really low defence

Are there boss fights? :

Yes there are in story mode, here is an example : Clouds story is a * which means its the easiest story mode, the star does not lie. The mode is simple, enemies can be killed in 10 seconds.. until you reach Sephiroth. He is brutal and will literally unleash hell on Cloud, even if you are experienced im sure you will have to reset the match many times against tough bosses. If you get irritated easily try to just finish them off the quickest way or just use your EX Burst.
