| yay, sounds awesome Kyoushu and Steve:)
With regard to security, We lock the doors from the inside around 9/10pm and you have to knock to get inside. One of the admin crew will be awake at all times.

| The admin desk is right next to the door, so we monitor who goes in and out.
You just pay with cash when you come, or after you've finished setting up your computer.
Btw, does anyone have a TV that they could bring? Atm I have 4 tvs lined up, but we\'re one short. Sing out if you can, free entry if you do. |

| Hey, this is Michael (Katies brother). You guys might remember me from the SLAS gaming convention on Saturday. Hey Will when you were configuring my computer for the Lan network do you think you might have changed something to make it incompatible with our home wireless network? Its just that since I got back from the convention, my computer cant seem to connect to our router. If you have any thoughts about what the problem could be, that would be really helpful. Thanks! |

| hey Penwin. You will need to go into your wireless lan connection properties and change the properties of the TCP(version4) back to auto assign on the IP and DNS address. |

| hehe, you should set up a dhcp server next time.
I'm sure I used to have a good simple win32 one saved somewhere, but can't find it, either way quick google search found this: http://ruttkamp.gmxhome.de/dhcpsrv/dhcpsrv.htm
Free, Win32 based. Just load it on one of the machines (with a static IP) and start issuing dhcp assigned ip's. Quick & easy. |

| i dont like using DCHP at lans. It's a lot easier to troubleshoot things and serve games by using assigned. |

Re: SLAS Gaming Lan - 5th - 6th of September By Pseudonym. 09/09/08, 05:10 am |
| That was lots of fun! ^_^'
There was a ps2 with GH3, two xbox360’s (dancing game ftw!) + a 4 player halo game which was pretty fun (and I don’t even like pvp halo) and a wii with brawl. (and your cute tv with your ps2, steve ^_^)!
It was pretty funny to see, at times, the majority of people at the consoles and the computers looking rather lonely, but there were quite a few games played, (dota, URT4, armagetron, (fear? Or something?) And probably some others I didn’t witness) and there was one point (I fail to recollect the exact time, mid morning?) when no one was at the consoles and everyone was at a computer! Not to mention the leeching, which I didn’t take advantage of personally, but there was an impressive amount of anime/movies/etc being shared, I was surprised how much I was leeched from (and I wasn’t even sharing any anime~!) On a side note, the hall was really warm, the heating worked (yay) and the facilities were nice, there was a zip, fridge, plenty of glasses/plates/utensils in the kitchen. And the side room for sleeping was pretty neat (even though it was rather under used ;) )
Note to anyone for the future who doesn't have a computer (or couldn't bring one to the lan) there were 2 “spare” computers (Will brought 3), and there were often times when people weren’t using theirs (mine was free most of the lan coughguitarherocough >_>’), and there were the consoles etc, so even if you’re not able to bring your own computer along, there is plenty of opportunity to game, leech and have a general awesome time. ^_^’ |
