So my mate Michael is going to do a Ryuuk from Death Note cosplay this year. He's 6'4 and I've been making him practice his Ryuuk walk lol. It'll be a very rough Ryuuk cause we only have two weeks, but I plan to go back and make the costume all over again and make it the best Ryuuk ever invented lol. But I did a practice test with the facial make-up and it turned out like this:

And I'm doing a Cirucci from Bleach cosplay. I'm doing her realeased form and this is the head piece and the base wig and a make-up test run. I want to do her full released form but I really do not have the time, so I'll enter her in the competition next year lol.

My little sister, my friend and I will be doing the anime version of the Power Puff Girls this year on the Saturday Auckgeddon. The anime is sugar honey iced tea, but the outfits are amazing lol. I'll be Buttercup, my sister will be Blossom, and my friend will be Bubbles. This is the wigs process so far lol.

And I'll be doing a Gaara cosplay on the Sunday Auckgeddon. I've dyed my hair to match his and have given it a priliminary cut to match him as best as I can, I'll give it another shaping a few days before Geddon as well.

Haha, thanks! I've got these big feather lashes on, and then just normal fake lashes as my bottom ones.

Gaara's coat is 50% hand sewen and 50% machine sewn, the little turd of a thing. And I hope I can finish his gourd in time, sad

Your gourd is looking great! And I commend you, because I know that it's actually a huge pain carving expanding foam, especially getting it to the rounded shape you want.

@Rowan - It's a pain in the ass expanding foam, especially when your craft knife goes blunt lol. Unfortunately my gourd wont be done on time. the job is just too big and I dont have the current moolah to pay for all the papermache/spray paint to finish it D:<

@Duckeh - Thanks! And about that chain, Michael sat on it in the car ride over to geddon and squashed one poor skull, then he sat on it again at lunch and squashed another three, lmao.

@PIe - Sadly we didnt get to finish the PPG in time becasue sugar honey iced tea hit the fan lol.

@EternalOutsider - Hahahaha, if only I could get something in that gourd, the thing is sealed tight. I was going to build am abdomen harness for the beast to secure it to my body then hide all the obviously showing harnessy bits with the cloth that he wraps around it to secure it to his body lol. I still am going to do that, its just going to take a while and means I have to redo his coat to allow for the harness to get through specialized vents haha. I wanted to make the thing as correct as I could make it, just didnt think about how much time making things correct takes XD

Speaking of next years contest, I'm starting now so I don't have a repeat of this year where I was sewing things night and day to hurridly attempt to finish things at the literally last second.

Michael will be doing Ryuk again and I'll be doing Rem. Both of them will have their wings, Ryuk's will move and Rem's will bend with wire... hopefully. I have things theoretically working out in my head, I just hope to the Cosplay Gods that they will be kind on me and make the magic happen Very Happy

I want to get them as close to the originals as possible.
I've already begun drawing out all the components on Rem, I have seven aspects on her figured out, there is most likely 20 more to go, lol.

2013 PROGRESS!!!! YAHOOO!!!!

All I have left to do on the calf cuffs in Papaer mache, gesso, paint, and protective matte varnish coat..... I am so glad I am strating this now. Not making the Gaara gourd mistake again lmao

I should have made them a bit thinner but I wanted to give Rem a bigger presence, seeing as I'm not that tall, and I'm gunna need heels that are over 6inchs to get close to Michaels height, so I made the armour pieces thicker to help make her presence look bigger. Does that makes sense??

@slinky - Yeah, it was either this or spend $250 on some pro teeth, but I ain't even near that rich lol. Still have to add the top row though.... procastination really isn't a good thing.

@brunetteyes - Yeah? Were you cosplaying? Cause if you were I might possibly remember you, lol. I told A LOT of people about those ping pong balls haha. Yeah, it was an easy way of making Ryuk's eyes bug out, not to mention beyond affordable haha.
Oh yeah, I completely understand about internet distractions, the ole www isn't so handy when it comes time for comps haha.
Yes and no. No-ish on the sewing front, but I'm hella good with celico and just making paterns up on the spot. And yes-ish on the craft front, I'm an artist by nature so have been dabbling in crafty stoof my whole life. I have an insane gift of looking at something, thinking for a few moments then going "I can make that." hahaha.
Thanks, but the progress on Rem is going to be a bit slow from now on. Turns out expanding foam gets pretty expensive when you're buying cans and cans of it.

So I'll be attending Hammygeddon this year!!!! I'll be going as Gaara and Soushi, so excited!!!

I want to make a light weight gourd for Gaara, so I bought two beach balls for the base:

Whilst hand sewing Ryuk's top I pricked myself many a times. But the biggest prick of all came from sewing thin metal wire into the back around the skull for barbed wire. If you don't like blood I would stare clear of this spoiler...

My cat misty kept my feat warm during the process and helped me sew Ryuk's pleather:

For Soushi, I wanted to make his tails stand up at the top and not all just hang limp. But then I was all like, "Wouldn't it be bloody awesome if all the tails moved!"
Now I don't know if you know this, but I am the Queen AND King of making moving tails. The design I use allows the tail to move with the sway of my hips. The more I sway, the more the tail moves. The first tail I ever made had to hand limp, so i used craft foam for it. But more than half of Soushi's tails either face upwards or stick out semi horitontally. And craft foam does not stick out rigidly, nor am I going to order in craft foam that is big enough for the wide fox tail shape. So I'm using chicken wire. I hate chicken wire. It stabs you ever chance you get and when you rae testing it out it rips up your back. But I just made one tail, and it's perfect.
I'm not going to show you my tail design, purely for the awe factor of when you see the tails move. I didn't invent something new though, this design had been around for a while, so if you know about it, keep it a secret please!!
On another note, one tail by itself moves fluidly, but I have the feeling that nine tails aren't going to move so fluidly, so I could just be wasting my time making complex tails lol. We'll see.
So to celebrate moving tails, I made a fun little fox god makeup face. Yay!

Had a big day of creating today. Michael came round and did all the paper mache for Rem's thigh cuff. That boy can take his time. He's coming around tomorrow to do the same for the other three cuffs.

Very happy with the way things are going now, progress is good considering Rem and Ryuk are in October.
Soushi on the other hand is a giant turnip and why the hell does he need nine tails??? Isn't one enough????? Making the first tail was fun. I just started the second tail and I'm officially over it, but I still have to make EIGHT more!!!!!!! Not cool Soushi, not cool

Progress!!!

Michael is officially the slowest paper macher to ever live. It takes him a whole day to do one cuff:

Overall I am very happy with my teeth. There is only a slight protrusion, but my mouth will be open the whole day anyway to show the teeth off, so that won't really matter lol. They are extremely comfy, you can't talk with them though unless you push them up onto your top teeth or push them down on your bottom teeth to speak mumbled words, lol. And if you clench down on them they squeek against your actual teeth. I love them soooo much!!!!

And I leave you withme being a Richard with my teeth!!

^ No, they are comfy as! I was really surprised at how comfy they are. It's a snug fit, and my gums aren't used to wearing an extended mouth guard, but they are actually comfy.

^ Thank you! Hahaha, that sounds like a brilliant idea. But i'd have a feeling I'd laugh so hard my teeth would fall out, and, ah, I don't know if you've ever worn a top and bottom mouth gaurd, but htere's a LOT of saliva involved when removing them lol.

^ haha I use to play hockey and I've only ever worn the top mouth guard. And I remember that generated quite enough saliva when shouting across the court.

If you start dribbling, I bet Rem would do that too so you'll still be in character haha
