Console zoning By deathbypiano. 17/02/12, 12:31 pm |
| Hay :) There are a few games that I want and can't find inside NZ. I'm guessing that ones bought off ebay wouldn't be able to work on my ps2 tho?
Also, I'm guessing that would be the same for gamecube? |

| For your PS2, you could purchase a Swap magic if you're fond of playing around with the disc tray. Alternatively you could hard mod it and that'd save you a lot of hassle.
You can also play any PAL games.
I'm sure someone out there would be more knowledgeable about the Gamecube. |

| I'm not sure about Gamecubes zoning, nor much about the PS2s zoning, but I guess if your PC is alright you could just get an emulator and download the game, of course that would be piracy so I dunno how you'd feel about that. |

| I know there's a way around it with the Wii so you could play Gamecube games from another region. I just can't remember how I did it now. |

| @Saiyajin Mui: Cheers ^_^ That was helpful. Also explain the Japanese games on trademe.. lol Don't really get how the swap magic thing works tho.. So you can play gamecube games on Wii?
@Merlin: I don't think I would be able to use a ps2 emulator on this laptop :/ Also, the .hack games are huge files and I don't think that my flatmates would be impressed if I used up all of the internet.. Plus I'm a bit of a collector ^_^ |

| On average we're looking at up to about 8GBs at most for a PS2 game. A lot of them usually range at the 3-4GB mark.
Wii games are generally 4.3-4.5GBs standard Exception being Super Smash Bros Brawl which is 8GBs. Gamecube are about 1.35GBs just for reference.
In terms of Swap Magic, this is what you'll be looking at: http://www.swapmagic3.com/Swap_Magic_Feature.htm
Again, I recommend hard modding. You can play imports and 'backups' The latter being very useful when playing fan translated PS2 games such as Namco X Capcom.

| ...I did not know the wii could play gamecube games. That is very handy to know!
Probably doesn't matter now, but I'll mention it anyway~ there is a disc you can get for the gamecube called "FreeLoader" it allows you to play imported games. |

| Wouldn't hurt looking into softmods as well if possible. They are a little tricky to get the hang of, but once you get the hand of them they're a godsend. It'll let you play those games that never made it into the PAL region.
I'm looking at YOU Xenosaga episode 1 and 3. |

| @Saiyajin Mui: You should ^_^ Ps2 has so many good games on it.. Mmm... Learning to do that could be fun. I should probably check that .Hack was made in PAL....
@Auroa: Thats handy to know. Cheers ^_^ |

| Depends on which .hack you are referring to. The Kite games (.hack//Infection/Mutation/Outbreak/Quarantine) were released in NZ, but are very rare. While the Haseo games (the .hack//G.U series) were not. |

| My copy of Infection, Mutation and Outbreak are all ex-rentals. Quarantine was the only one I snagged off the shelf off a shop. Even so, finding it was a mission in itself. |
