'Cause Mikage is amazing amazing and I am determined to cosplay him someday.

Ok, so I was rather vexed at first, I mean technically with the loss of labor Monday, I realize that I actually lose a day as Monday is a public holiday, and workies and all that.

It does however dawn on me that I get these things called "Leave Days" which I never actually use.
Depending on what is happening the week days, I may just have to pull some strings.

Meh, this problem is a year away, Ill worry about it then.

Well, tbh. I have to get time off work to go to Geddon every year because I work weekends. So it really doesn't make a difference to me, maybe I'm the only one? And what I want to start studying next year (Early Childhood) doesn't have exams XP Lucky, right haha.

But yeah, I do realise how much it sucks for some people. Having the competition on the weekend would be the only fair way, I think. But yeah, I would only think about going all 4 days if there were epic events on or friends were going.

Maybe we can try to get them to move cos!comp to the Saturday since most people will be able to be in Auckland that day..?

In the most humble of opinions, I think its the best Bill could do. The rugby world cup is a pretty big event, as big as geddon, probably more bigger.

I mean, at least you can go to Halloween in your cosplay outfit y/y?

Because of full time study and compulsory attendance I was never really sure if I was going to be able to go to Auckgeddon anyway, but this change of date has really cemented that I can't.

It's pretty upsetting mostly because Auckland is without a doubt the biggest most exciting Geddon, not to mention the longest and has (in my experience anyway) always had the best stars as well.
It's just a nail in the coffin that I'm now missing a full four days and only getting the two of Wellington, especially because Chch and Welly are so close this year too so i can't afford both.

I understand it and understand that people have done the best they can but it really doesn't stop it from sucking any less.

As Ange says cosplay is a part of the show (and pretty much the only reason I have ever been) but there were 40,000 people who went to the show this Auckland. How many are cosplayers? The show is extremely expensive, I was told the figures for lighting the main stage alone and was mildly horrified (mind you I have done a lot of theatre which is at most 2 hours of lighting the show is all day for all days). So to cover the cost and keep prices down the show has to appeal to as many people as possible.

I think being able to move the contest to Sunday is a good compromise though so we'll certainly push for it.

Yeah. Christchurch Armageddon is always so crowded and with people bumping into you all the time. Thought that was normal until Fleyer mentioned today that it's a issue that only occurs during Christchurch. Upgrading Welly and Christchurch to three days and Auckland Armageddon to four would be really cool. (:

Yeah was thinking this. Thousands of people would want the Rugby World Cup to happen and Cosplays are just a few short group of people and don't think that they are going to care about a bunch of people who dress in costumes. To them we are a laughing stock. Even if we debated or tried to do something to change things, doubt they'll care because people want their rugby. Sorry if sounds harsh, but yeah. Thinking realistically.

Actually Welly is the worse venue over all. Imagine the main stage, the panel room and the exhibit hall all in the same hall! The noise, argh. Of course that corridor in ChCh is the longest jam of them all often.

I would be interested in how the numbers for Welly and ChCh stack up with Auckland?

Oh I was about to say I wouldn't expect them to change the dates for cosplayers, that would be ridiculous. When I started this thread I was unaware of the rugby dates. At the end of the day, I'd go if I could go whenever the comp was, and the days my best friends are going. Half the reason of going to 'gedon for me is seeing everyone from all over the country, so if they weren't there, well pfft. So I don't mind too much now as long as my friends go~

Crazily enough this is good news for me Razz

My uni dates are pushed forward a week next year so I was possibly going to be busy with hand ins still on labour weekend and not be able to go, but now, not so! Very Happy

Especially exciting as I am planning actual cosplays for next years events (well Welly and Aucks) and am in the process of looking at sewing machines.

Still I totally see how this sucks for everyone else sad

I MIGHT be able to go four days ('cos it's mostly revision around that time in class anyway), but like with Maddi, I have a camp next year that might clash with it the entire 'geddon anyway :'T

You know the irony in all this? I'd heard rumors tossed around for a little while about 'Geddon only being two days next year. Then I'd heard rumors about it being four. Now, both are true!

It's four days, but we can all only go to two of them. |D;; geez.

The dates aside for next year (bleh first year uni~?) I don't think I'd want to go an extra day unless there was something specific happening, mostly because I know I'll be low on money and energy. I can see those not cosplaying having an easy time about it though~ kinda gives more reason to cut down on cosplay plans too. :`3

i doubt i can go at all... the fact it's not on a holiday means that otago university exams have the possibility of being on any of those days. 8( tertiary education > cosplay

sadly second semester final exams always fall on the dates auckgeddon is anyway.

So attendance is not an issue but if everyone else I wanted to see/hang out with couldn't go for the whole weekend...well what's the point in being there all 4 days if they aren't?

For a while I queried why the date change, then someone mentioned Rugby and I was like 'that's next year...right?' and it all clicked. Stupid rugby XD
