Egging

I was just wondering how many people had eggs thrown at them outside the con. I also think some people had water or other stuff thrown.

I know we had a car go around the block twice on the way home one night, and the same car Monday day around 3pm returning from the picnic.

Probably not a big priority for the police, but if it is common year on year then maybe bill can mention it to them?

We got egged 8( But nobody's outfits got hit, thankfully.

it makes me really angry that people just drive around and think it's perfectly fine to throw eggs and other things at cosplays and other items that people have spent a lot of time on. We walked around the footpath around the whole showgrounds at one point, and the ground was just -littered- with all these smashed eggs 8l

...you know, come to think about it, that car looked suspiciously like the one that water/icebombed us yesterday while trick or treating...

I remember Hide caught a photo of the car, I think? Did he manage to get the license plate?

Sliver modern car, licence SX????.
I never got another chance to photo it.
Hide did get a photo, but like even for his camera it was way down the road, so I wonder if he did get a plate. The police can blow things up a bit more too.

I got an egg thrown at me while we were walking up Greenlane on the way back to the motel on Sunday. It did get on the bottom of my costume sad

^In response to the above the problem is that people don't think about how much time is spent on outfits or think about the fact they're ruining something that somebody is probably really proud of. It's just because they see people dressed as characters and think it's funny to wail on 'nerds'.
They certainly wouldn't drive past an opera house and throw eggs at ballet dancers costumes, but that's because the costumes aren't from games or anime or comics.

Tldr: Some people are just born idiots.

It's illegal, so do see if you can identify the car and talk to the police.
Throwing eggs, regardless of whether or not they hit, is assault.
If they DID hit anyone, it's assault with intent to injure.
If anyone got hit by/hurt by anything heavier, it's injures with intent to injure.
Someone should talk to the police about it, if anyone has any reasonable ID for the car.

This sadly. People who are unfamiliar with Cosplay won't see the time and effort the person put into the costume. They'll just see a 'nerd' to egg. Because it's "cool " and it will make them look "hip ".

Somebody needs to dressup as Sora next year so can chase them down and stick a giant keyblade up their retarded butt. That would teach 'em.

Well I think that people who egg randoms people deserve to be punished anyway. It's never a nice thing.
It is worse being peoples costumes, but even if it wasn't ...
And it's worse cause he/she wasn't just on the way home from the supermarket, he must have emptied a tray or more eggs, (like a tray of several dozen), and made multiple passes on multiple days, cause the footpaths where littered with eggs by the end. It was sport for him/her. And there was water bombing in there too.

But worse for me was last year one of our youngest cosplayers got hit by what she hopes was water. So they have no regard for age either.
I am pretty sure people got yelled at too.

Thats why I ask if people have experienced it last year too. Cause if it is going to happen again then it may be worth seeing what can be done.

edit: HH. Hide was the only one to get a photo, and I doubt it was close enough, even for his camera. And I don't think anyone actually got hit themselves, but some did get egg sprayed on the bottom of the costume/shoes. And I still doubt it will be a big priority for the police.

When Zeo, Mandie, Aura and I were waiting at the bus stop opposite Countdown, a car that was just coming out of CD threw an egg at us. We didn't realise what happened until it hit the bus stop glass... thankfully no-one got hit but Mandie got a tiny bit on her Jedi cloak. sad

Last year we had a full McDonald's soda thrown at us in between ASB and Abella which hit me in the leg. It didn't get my costume luckily. I wish I had seen the license plate number - injuries with the intent to injure - how does that look on your permanent record, douche? Egging 48404

That sucks people threw eggs this year - they're so hard to get out as well. Some people shouldn't be allowed outside the house.

I am glad I didn't encounter anything like this. Because there would have been much raging if I did get hit. Egging cosplayers is one of my berserk buttons because so much time and money goes into making one or even buying one and honestly, even if the people who threw the eggs knew that, I figure they wouldn't understand and just go "What a waste of money"

Seriously, it's just like going up to a guy who just bought a new TV and smashing it with a hammer, laughing and running off. It's just not freaking cool. We pay for our cosplays in more ways than one. So yeah, knowing that some people got egged really annoys me and I hope whoever did it gets whats coming to them.

a sugar honey iced tea car did drive past our group walking back to the motel with some trailer trash leaning out the window and shouting LOSERS. i promptly shouted back where to shove it.

We had a similar incident on Saturday walking back to Greg's car.

Also when walking back to Gengis Khan for dinner IN NORMAL CLOTHES Lennon and I were told to "get off the sidewalk" by a passing car....what o.o

This is really sad to hear. I'm so grateful this didn't happen to me, I would've been so gutted. The worst I got was beeping horns and wolf whistling. But I take that as a compliment. Next year I'll have to be careful... I don't want anything on my costumes..

I can't believe this happened. What a bunch of asshats. I MAD.

I hope that Hide's photo turns out well enough to go to the cops with. That isn't acceptable behaviour, and it shouldn't be something any one writes off just because you guys were in costume.

I didn't notice lots of eggs on the sidewalk until going home Monday night. But we got egged twice in a row (same car) Sat and once Sunday (totally different). They mostly missed, but they obviously tried hard. And the egg shells seemed to shatter, it was the yokes I noticed mostly.

We got egged too, twice ):
Fortunately our cosplays weren't ruined, but man I got pissed. One hit my friend Connor in the back, but luckily didn't actually break until it hit the ground.
Freaking asses. It felt horrible not being able to get them back -__-

Oh that's really sad. I missed it luckly, and because I'm blind I didn't notice anything. We were called at a lot from cars on our way to the con and even BK ect...but I didn't think it was that bad.

Getting egged is gross. Put me off Halloween. You don't want it to start putting people off armageddon.

The worst I had was when I was walking through town at wellygeddon last year while cosplaying Jolteon and got people yelling "PIKACHU" at me out of cars.
