hello CNZ, im new.. obviously and would like to get into cosplay. seems like an awesome way to make new friends!!
seeing all the awesome cosplay at armagedon got me kinda excited!!

welcome to cnz! 8D keep an eye on the auckland cosplayers subform-- i believe ACP will be happening in january, and they often organize stuff there.

My moms sewing machine wasn't delivered in time, leaving me to go to Auckgeddon with only two costumes, one of them not even finished. My Near from Death Note (avatar) was made with my own pyjama pants and my dad's shirt with a wig I bought for $30 from eBay.

You don't have to sew. Characters from main stream anime can easily be cosplayed from the things lying in your closet. You won't be any less liked for it. Heaps of people here can't sew. XD I'm pretty awful myself, and get a LOT of help.

Btw, would anyone say it'd be a bit hard to start with natsu's costume from fairy tail? I think its just awesome! And it'd give me a good reason to work on my abs! XD

i dont wana sound rude by asking for a personal tutorial on fabric design and the string theory. Hehe physics joke. But i also dont wana petrify anyone with my first experience with a needle and thread

Haha, well, dont worry too much - generally speaking, the Auckland crowd are the most laid back and lazy bunch on here. We "gather" occasionally, but its got a bit more of a "come as you please" atmosphere to it, depending on whats being done.

It's good to know that you have been inspired to cosplay.
All cosplayers are always willing to help. But there is always someone out there that is willing to help you...your first time doesn't have to be the best, but every time you try you will see yourself improving...don't be shy, all cosplayers are friends :)
