| Well that one woke me up don't really think I'm going to be going back to sleep now. Sounded just like the one on Saturday morning, but without the rumble. Just all to familiar. |

There were three aftershocks from 5-6am this morning. You woke up from the 4.2. There were nine aftershocks altogether |

| ^yea there were so many last night/this morning. They were all average compared to the original one(s).
@Calie there were 3 things that fell off your shelves. Your clay dragon had the end of both its wings broken off (unless it was already like that) otherwise everything in your room is fine~ Funny enough the door to the shower even opened (that made me lol for some reason)
anywho todays plan of action is to ring up all my work places and see which ones are on and which ones are off until further notice~ |

| Yea I seen that when I got up. And I didn't even wake up for the 4.8 but that one was alot further out I think that's why the 4.2 one woke me up because it was only 10km from CHCH. Didn't go to bed til 1. So tired of all this shaking. |

| @Callie: Don't worry, the amount of help and support going on in Christchurch at the moment is amazing, in fact it's almost crazy. Last night we drove over to Linwood College to offer some blankets to the people staying there, only to find out that after the one news story, about 2000 blankets had been dropped off in ten minutes! (Of course, the guy might have been joking about 2000, but at least they have enough ) |

| OK. LivingSpace Apartments in town is still standing (and open), so my accommodations still good.
Sorry to hear about all the people with damaged houses (we're still waiting to hear if our Christchurch branch at work is structurally sound), but at least things seem to be settling down a bit.. bar all the aftershocks and crappy weather.. :/

| erm.. so slightly out of context, but does anyone know if Osakas OK? Static had made me well aware she wanted to go back again.. :) Hoping it's still standing, although it's probably in the blocked off area of town i'm guessing? |

| It's in the CBD so don't know. The brick building next to it has JUST be taken down (on wed I think) so it hasn't been crushed. The buildings next to it aren't that old so I think it should be ok~ At worse there may be a few things off shelves. |

| Also sounds like half of Moorhouse Ave is closed. Our Christchurch office is closing at 1.30 since most people can't get to it..
I wonder if i'll have a pile of quake damaged laptops to look at when i get down there. :/
If anyone did happen to have one damaged in the quake the company I work for is Service Plus. |

| Just FYI - don't worry about stocking up on milk. Meadow Fresh milk is processed here in Christchurch and the milk itself is brought up in tankers (not trains) from the farms. Supermarkets and petrol stations are basically all run out of batteries and water though. :/ |

A lot more than a couple or anything. It's kinda scary that Christchurch has ripped open a new fault. x.x

Ahhh so very very tired :/ this isn't helping me do my assignments. Does anyone else hate when night time comes, just incase we get a huge aftershock? It just seems scarier at night... incase the power goes out again. Fffffffffft.
Everyone I've talked to is so exhausted, and some haven't cleaned up their house since the big one because whats the point when another one might strike. Come to think of it, we haven't put everything back into place yet either incase they just come down.
Some of the aftershocks have been really big jolts, the one recently seemed really big but was a 4.4.
On the plus side at least the weather has been amazing today! =3
@ crazy, thanks for the link! That was interesting and kinda scary at the same time o__O; |

| You gaiz are lucky for having good weather. Dunedin must have gotten some of the storm that was supposed to hit you. Really strong winds last night, and now rain and gross sky today. Well, I'd gladly have your storm, just so you gaiz can keep working without the added stress fo rain and such. <33 |

| My room is still a tip. I don't think I'll clean till the aftershocks stop. Everything probably safer where it is.
Was just on Moorhouse ave. Traffic is bad and town is closed from St Asaph down to Armagh St in the CBD. The 4 aves are open though. I think its Madras st to Durham St that are also in the cordend areas.
Was nice being out with peoples didn't feel any aftershocks while out . Well there was one when me and E!A were in the car but we thought it was the wind lol. |

| think the storm is coming? wind picking up and getting clouded over here in riccarton...
oh and FYI guys: pls do not hide under tables or anything! (just realised kinda late to be posting this ) new research (years old now) suggests to try to squat down beside stable things, this will form 'the triangle of life' (where slabs of wall/ceiling will fall and hit down on a slant there4 forming a triangular space for you) even if the table/etc gives way u will still have some form of that space left--> but if u r underneath then u will be crushed for sure >< was taught this in geography class bac in highschool and how a whole class of children in mexico were crushed to death becos they were told to hide under their desk =( |

| ^ Yeah it's been pretty windy.. we've just finished mending the roof where the chimney snapped off. Then where are we supposed to hide? D: I certainly don't feel safe under the doorways...it seems so narrow for it to give any sort of security. |

| oh yes and no doorway too apparently << remember teacher saying doorways have a possibility of slicing u in half... and staircase will chop u up into many chunks >< if theres a table than hide next to it- and remember to hold onto the table legs so it dosent bounce away from u, also if theres beams where u r at then hide underneath them cos they r suppose to be the strongest point in the roof (this is in our geo classroom bac then so dunno bout ordinary houses <<) annnd if u r on bed then quickly roll off it and u'll be beside it ^^ |

| Triangle of Life has been argued a few times. There's so much mixed information it's hard to say how valid it is.
http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/household/triangle.asp http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/t/triangle-of-life.htm http://lamorindacert.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=261&Itemid=1
I wouldn't take it as being 'the' survival method in any case. |
