I tried to sleep as best I could but it was a dismal attempt. Have now got a headache and am crabby >_> sleep deprivation is not cool. Not only the aftershocks but the wind in the morning kept me awake. And we have no water. But YAY for my nana who does so I can FINALLY have a shower thank god.

I had a terrible nights sleep >.<
Most of the night I was awake. And I felt really sick too, nearly lost my dinner.
We have actually had many more aftershocks than have been listed on geonet- over 100 now. Fortunately my area didn't get hit very hard and we can't feel most of the aftershocks. I was on the phone to Frozon last night and he kept telling me when an aftershock was coming but most of the time I couldn't feel them.

Hey guys this is Lilap, 3 Supermarkets are open and maybe more are open. Rail Networks are down so food will run out.

We went to the supermarket today and people talked about getting emergency food drops.

GET FOOD NOW

It maybe be your last chance for a while. Most malls are shut and food is running out. Stock up on cans and powerdered milk just in case.

I slept like a log all night on a lilo at my parents house.

And for people who haven't got much food- get rice, as it's cheap and it'll last a long time.

...and yet another big aftershock has come. Went on for while... even the lights are still swaying >_<;

Are people just attempting to ignore it now? Carrying on as normal? Or duck and covering each time?

The latest big shock was a 5!

I'm carry on as a normal but judging each shock as it comes cause I do have doubts about our the integrity of our house.

I think the main thing to remember is, any of these can be our next big one, so not to get too relaxed - while at the same time not having to freeze your lives either.
Always know where you're going to go and have a clear path to it, in case it is the big one as you'll only have a few seconds to react before things turn chaos.

Edit, and work experience at the zoo will be interesting tomorrow, time to put what we've learned about 'natural disasters and zoos' to practical experience.

I am simply sitting somewhere that didn't have any problem in the big one in the hope that I am more or less safe here.

However I do pause with each shock to see how strong it will get.

Yeah, that might be wise XD
I think we might need to move our wall unit... when that big quake hit it fell against the wall and we had to lift it upright before we could escape out our front door, standing on the mountain of books/stuff on the way out. Safe? I think not.

You certainly quickly realize whats stable and whats not, that's forsure. I'm quite surprised what didn't fall, as well as what did.

On the floor? Unless your floor falls out, it can't fall any further than that.

links in the first post as well =3

they only show shocks of 3 or above, and of which have been reported... so not every shock we've felt is actually in here. They have recorded over 60 aftershocks, but we have had far more.

Post By Pyro. 05/09/10, 07:46 am

So, guys, guess what?

I have to move house. My current one is pretty much certain to be condemned, thanks to the wall falling out and there's damage to some other structural stuff.

I didn't sleep very much at all last night because I was paranoid that walls were going to collapse on me in my sleep, even though I know they won't. You just can't shut up that part of your brain that's still freaking out in situations like this.

nnngh. Oh well. At least I've moved all my cosplay stuff/gaming consoles/etc to my friend's place, so I have all the things I want to fiddle around with. Though-- and this is going to sound so strange-- playing my PS3 makes me feel really jittery, and idk why.

Blargh. I am envious of all of you that just had things fall over. Count yourselves lucky.

I like the layout better there, but its confusing, it looks like instead of removing or changing the data they just add it. As its reporting both 7.4 and a 7.1. It updates quicker then the other one though.
Lol I wanna make some kind of graph.

I wonder what the status is of my work.

Edit:
Whaaaa Pyro ;-;
I hope you recover quickly, and I can see why you're worried about walls coming down on you. I'm just glad you're okay, and its great that most of your stuff is as well. I'm so sorry about your house.
