Personal Favorite Manga/Personal Unfavorite Manga

Well, we have a thread for good anime, so here's one for good manga. I'm kinda at a loss of what series I should read next, so this is kinda for my benefit too.

Shall I start? Guess I should.

Some of my personal favorite manga are Chrno Crusade (JENAI x RIZELLE FOREVER!) Devil May Cry 3 and Vampire Doll: Guilt-Na-Zan.

Chrno Crusade I've described in the anime thread, but I'll add this- From the halfway point or so, the manga is totally different. Certain characters don't die. Other characters do. Satella pervs over Chrno, and it's cool. They get drunk, for crying out loud! The final volume made me cry, too, which proves how cool it is. I still cry when I read it.

Devil May Cry 3 is a manga prequel to the prequel to the DMC game series. It chronicles Dante going to strip joints, saving fat Italians and getting hit on by girls in bunny suits.

... And demon hunting, obviously.

It has all the crazy attitude of the third game, along with some cute moments with Lady, and a crazy chick named Alice that likes biting things, and magically goes between having cleavage in one frame and not having cleavage in the next.

It does get a little outrageous at times, and might be a little on the 'OH GOD WHAT'D HE JUST SAY' side for really, really purist people (hence the fact it has an Older teen manga rating on it) and the violence is a little over the top at points (Vergil, honey, you want to do a cleaner cut on the librarian's spine next time) but it's still great, and I was laughing my head off at various points.

Vampire Doll: Guilt-Na-Zan is a tale of a vampire lord that gets sealed in a cross for a coupl'a hundred years, then revived... In a high quality wax doll body. A female wax doll. Naturally, Guilt Na Zan (the vampire guy) isn't too happy with the situation. Then the fun begins, when he's immediately hired by his resurrectee (the descendant of the guy who sealed him in the first place) to unwillingly be a goth-loli maid.

It's hilarious, and the art is really pretty. Guilt Na Zan makes a nice bishie when he's not in the wax doll form, and when he's not a wax doll, we have his pretty servant, Vincent (who vaguely resembles a certain other Vincent, in terms of hair style and build) to ogle. Vampire Doll is a fun manga to read, and the situations just get funnier from the first volume onwards ("Our school is turning into Gakuen Heaven!")

Some manga which I don't really like includes... Well, I tend to avoid the ones which sound boring or bad, so yeah. Nothing I can fill in this part with at present.

characters are love, as is the story.
although it's yaoi/shounen-ai, the story still carries the manga rather than boy x boy love stuff.

i don't read too much manga anymore.

i don't really like tokyo mew mew - it's a load of shit, i reckon.

and dragon ball and dragon ball z and stuff - it's laaame.

Seriously now... well I'm more watcher than reader but... then again so many manga varies from its anime counterpart (well if it has one) ... so I'm starting on manga.

I wanna read fruits basket since the anime finishes earlier on.
Ghost hunt, same thing, but its on hiatus.

Well everyone’s talking about the fullmetal alchemist manga, how different it is (lots saying better) so I need to look into this heh.heh.

Fruits Basket is good! I prefer the manga waaay more than the anime. The anime ending sucked. D=

Same with Ouran High School Host Club. The manga is good, it's funny my there are serious points in it and I love the characters ^^. The anime ending of for that sucked too.

Ooh. I've read a bit of Full Metal Alchemist and I liked it, never watched the anime though. =o

I <3 Card Captor Sakura!! The drawings are so... Detailed!! Especially the flowers.. I mean... There's always a bunch of flowers floating midair in each page...

Right now, I'm reading Fruits Basket. I tried to read Chobits and Tsubasa, but Chobit's too dodgy (by dodgy, I mean: too mature for me); and Tsubasa is much too dark for my little mind... ^^

I haven't read Chobits.
And I'm a bit anti-Tsubasa. Not that I don't like the storyline. Or the characters. I just don't like the Syaoran & Sakura in it (CCS them = muuuch better!). They're so stretchy-looking too. D=

-laughs- Stretchy Tsubasa... You're kinda right, though. I prefer Tsubasa, personally. Fai is very cute, and tragic. And the characters, I found, were far more likeable.

Everyone's talking about the FMA manga, which I'm kinda so-so about. I know it's the original, but... I love the anime plot and characters so much more! -sigh- I suck for liking the anime of something more, don't I?

Er. I don't like Boys over Flowers (Hana yori dango) The art is hideous, but I heard the real life drama (j-drama I think) is good.

Eww... Shojo...

xD I only seem to like maha shojo, really, if we're talking shojo. :3 Although, Fruits Baskets is one of my favorite manga, and it's more focused on the drama side of it, I find. I <3 Furuba.

hrm.

I adore Loveless because of its general fabulousness and soppyness. Seriously, I adore soppy love-stories, once they start getting too sexual I feel kind of awkward but innuendos and stuff are A-OK. xD So Loveless is waaay up there. <3 The anime was a bit disappointing though---too short and kind of weird in relation to the manga. :/

I also love Land of Misty Rain. It's not so popular, but it's a beautiful manga by a Korean artist. It's drawn fantastically and there were even some beautiful colour pages in the middle of volume one. (: It is a little bit cliche at times but it's also very funny and well-structured. Not to mention that many of the characters *coughGreatKingofDarknesscough* are total sexbombs. ;P

Fruits Basket I adored but couldn't be bothered following. xD There were too many volumes and not enough appearances by Ayame and Ritsu (my favourites, hands down x3). I also found the main characters bloody frustrating---Tohru in particular was very badly developed.

...And I will just say now that I've never, ever liked CLAMP comics. They have odd proportions which confuse me and look generally bad. Though, granted, I was a massive fan of the Cardcaptor Sakura anime when I was a little wee thing (though I also liked Sailor Moon, so that doesn't say much for my taste when I was eight xD). xP

Hmm...

Anyone else here read vampire manga and stuff? I'm trying to find more good ones right now...

Also, hah, car racing manga. That sounds kinda silly...

I saw a guy that looked like L from Death Note walking around my neighborhood once. He wasn't wearing any shoes, he had the white shirt and jeans and had creepy eyes with rings under them and spiky black hair. It was kinda cool, and kinda bizarre.

I have a rathe large manga collection ... (Over 100 volumes now ...)

Favourites:

Loveless: Absolutly adore it. Ritsuka is cute and Soubi is pretty. The story gets better around volumes 8 and 9 (I download it when a new chapter comes out >__>).

Chrno Crusade: I love the unique art style. It may look similar to others, but still has its own uniqueness. I love Demon Chrno too <3
PYRO, YOU ATTENTION SHOULD BE DIRECTED HERE! *cough* Uh, what volumes of the manga do you have? If you don't have 3, 4 or 5, I can give you it, my friend gave me all her manga and these were included, and I already have 'em. They are Chuang Yi too, I can't remember which one you collected ...

Fruits Basket: The one thing I hate about FB is that the art style has changed at the end of the manga. Other than that, it's really nice. It has some awesome characters (Haru, Hari, Momitski (<3 ... aka Momiji), and Ayame).

Kingdom Hearts: The art is really cute! And the fact that it doesn't stick exactly to the games is really great!

Death Note: Ahhh ... <3

Manga that sucks:

Ranma 1/2: I found it totally boring, art style sucks, and the storyline goes nowhere.

Shojo in general. It's stupid, has annoying art, and only ever has one plot: Girl loves guy, said guy doesn't know she exsists.

Yaoi is really funny too. I crack up laughing when I read it, even overly pervered stuff.
