Contest rules updates
Post By neimhaille. 13/03/11, 12:47 pm

Hello all,

You may have noticed the rules are now in a pretty user friendly pdf with dates for contests in both countries arranged so you can easily work out what is happening where. You may also have noticed that there are a few changes to allow for larger props and also a little more skit time.

Something though not yet in the text is a very strong push to get good descriptions of how you made your costumes/props and organised your skits.

We may be looking at asking for in-progress photos, if you can I highly suggest you do so as it helps a great deal in the judging process. It also saves time in the judging room asking questions that really should have been answered in your registration form.

Would a recipe list of what is needed be helpful? Generally most people here are very good at describing how they produced their work- it's not necessary to use technical terms but being able to describe beyond I cut it out and sewed it up is going to make it much easier!

Something akin to this would be fine:

materials:
Methods:
Difficulties:
New skills learnt:
What I am most proud of:

There has never been a desire to make it like homework but this information really is vital and it's been a bit lacking on occasion. This is also partly due to the newness of the process in Oz (it's required for the Nationals and WCS but not for the contests the majority enter as far as we can tell) and the forms we got the last few times there :)

Ohyay. C: After seeing the Naruto team registration Tammy has whipped us into getting into the habit of taking progress pics. I imagine it's going to help when we get around to writing as welllll.

Start writing now! I hate writing up all in one go so I like to write as I go and then assemble it as I need :)

Or ignore it all and retype it all up.. ;) But yeah good practice to take photos, they help you be able to remember when you did something or even that you did it ;) I think I share about 1% of the photos I take but they help record the process :)

though you don't have to go into as much detail as the naturto project! That was awesome but couldnt be printed out and I will not be able to read 10 times that if all on the day hand ins are that big! :)
