Anime/Manga Artbooks By Zeb. 27/07/09, 01:38 pm |
| So does anyone collect them? And I'm talking about actually owning the artbook, and not scans. This includes specialty sets e.g. the Death Note "Death Box" or the limited edition Chocolate sets for Digi Charat.

Just curious to know what the scene is like here in NZ. |

DO have a Chinese version of Kino's Journey art though. |

| Depends on where you're getting them from Juxtapoz. If you're buying from someone in NZ, then yeah, it gets expensive, but places like JPQueen and Mandarake are awesome
Basaka is the poster book still even available?!?! @_@ Am kicking myself for not getting all the Aria artbooks when they came out. Was able to get Cielo, but yeah, hard to find the others unless you go Yahoo! Auctions way. |

| I have one artbook, but it's for a game, does that still count? xD
It was really expensive-- not surprising, considering it had been out of print since '04. But I love iiit~
I want to get a few more artbooks sometime, but mostly for games. |

Re: Anime/Manga Artbooks By Admin. 28/07/09, 06:31 am |
| There are two artbooks I want. P: I'm not sure if one of them exists though.
The first would be the Genso Suikoden Tierkreis 108 Character Guide and the other would be an xxxholic artbook. But I'm not sure if there are any holic artbooks. Px |

| Jess the Mutuality book is GORGEOUS, good choice!!!
And Admin (do you go by another name?!!?) I think there are a few animation art books for xXXHolic but if you want the art by CLAMP, the only thing I've really seen are those yearly calendar sets they put out. |

| Oooooh. Yearly calendars? I was just sulking over the fact that I didn't have a 2009 calendar and it was already half way through the year. XD
Oh, and you can call me Alex. Most people call me that... among other things that shall not be mentioned any further than this. |

Really old photo, I also have 2007 & 2008 but can't be bothered taking a new photo (will do so when I get my photo gallery of my collection up on my site... one day...)
Each calendar is pretty large and comes with a special gift, 2005 was a little stamping set, 04 were pens and 06 was a mini-desk calendar.
And hello Alex :) |

| NO WAY @_@
I was kinda annoyed that I missed out on this year's one but if they haven't even made one, I feel KINDA better. But I don't quite believe they haven't... MUST RESEARCH NOW.

I found it in Taiwan. Found II, but not I and III... well there was an auction but it was pretty darn expensive and I didn't have enough money left. ;A; |

| You're absolutely correct Alex, Kodansha didn't put out a CLAMP calendar this year. Which is weird, but ah well.
fyi these calendars aren't pure xXXHolic, they're also Tsubasa Chronicles. |

Re: Anime/Manga Artbooks By Zeb. 28/07/09, 08:48 am |
| Speaking of CLAMP's Mutuality artbook, if anyone has been wanting it; this is probably the cheapest I've seen it anywhere (someone please prove me wrong!)
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/4048542869/ref=pe_3542_13761752_pe_ar_d1
Around NZ$32 for the book, and another $10 or so for shipping. Damn good.
p.s. if you've never shopped from Amazon JP before, its really easy, just login with your standard Amazon account, and use 1-click ordering. :) |

We order semi-often... best way is to get like 5+ friends and order together. srsly. |

| @Zeb: Ouch! I paid like $60AUD for mine! >.< Ah well... It was a souvenir from our trip to Books Kinokuniya in Sydney - such an amazing shop! *o* But yes - it's an amazing art book. I love CLAMP's art... I only wish I could read the short story! XD Just as a quick mod note - please don't double post - it's regarded as a kind of spam on these forums. Just hit the edit button instead if you have something else to add and no one else has posted yet. |

Re: Anime/Manga Artbooks By Zeb. 28/07/09, 11:52 am |
| My bad!
I know... I'll blame it on being OLD AND FORGETFUL... yes, thats ma excuse.
I am a massive fan of CLAMP as well and absolutely love how over the last few years their work has been translated. I remember buying up all their lesser known manga in Japanese, and getting translations cause there was no chance existing publishers (at the time) would pick em up save for MKR... huzzah TokyoPop!
Azeria - Tokyo Babylon Photographs is an AWESOME artbook. Still by far one of my favourites of all the CLAMP artbooks that I own... although the RG Veda Hittenmuma and Tenmagouka come REAL close. ;_; |

| Rofl, it's all good! C: It's an easy mistake. n_n
*o* Wow, I so very much envy your collection! It's when I hear about the collections of others that I start to wish I wasn't so late to join the fandom... But at least I'm here in time for the big Tsubasa finale! :O It's funny how things like CLAMP's old work becomes more popular years later than it was when it was released. |

Re: Anime/Manga Artbooks By Zeb. 28/07/09, 12:17 pm |
| Don't envy, just cause I have a head start doesn't mean that there aren't people out there who have way more than me now; especially since I haven't really been collecting artbooks in the last 3 years (although I've just seen that my list needs updating.)
One of the things I thought when I first started collecting artbooks, was that I would NEVER be able to get some of the harder to find books... over the years I've pretty much found this to be NOT the case... save for the Sailor Moon "Infinity" artbook... then again, last time I saw that for sale on eBay, it went for OVER a grand US. *sigh*
I really hope CLAMP ALWAYS stays popular. They have a universal appeal not only because of their beautiful and ever evolving art style, but their interesting stories!
Azeria, that is an awesome way to celebrate your love for CLAMP! |
