FFX-2 Rikku Costume - Critique?

Hai gaiz. =P
I'm a n00b to the whole Cosplaying society. I went to ChChGeddon the weekend that's just been dressed as Rikku, from FFX-2. Her thief dress sphere, I think(not played the game, so shhhhh =P).

Anyway. Through the whole weekend, I was angsty about my costume, by how rough it looks, how shoddily it was done. I had a week to make it, I finished sewing it the Friday night before it started. xD;;

I made the scarf by getting lengths of red material and sewing it end to end.
I didn't dye it or cut tassels into the end, as I didn't have time. Anybody have any tips to give me on how to make tassels?
I'll probably get some sample material and try yellow dye, see how that turns out.. Unless somebody can give me some ideas on how to make a good scarf.
To make the scarf better, I'm thinking about getting more red material and making it a two layer thing. Sewing both sides of it together, then turning it inside out. I think it would look quite good if I did it that way. Comments?

As for the sleeves.. xD;; I cut the arms off a shirt, wrapped elastic around the top to hold it in place, cut a strip out of the sleeve, then got some ribbon stuff and tied bows to hold the two halves together. As much as I can see, that's the general idea of Rikku's sleeves.

Boots.. I painted them firs,t but the paint was munted by the end, so I put masking tape, blue and white, all around them. Anybody got any ideas of how I can make the boots look.. Well, better?

Other than what I specified above, does anybody have any other critique on what I need to do? Skirt's black, not green. Gloves are black, not dark brown.. Umm.. Yeah. xD;;

I don't buy things over the internet, so I'm limited to Dunedin, searching around here for things to help me.

Awwww Rikku you did very well for just one week and well all i have to say is this::

Even though Rikku isn't my favourite person, you still did a very good job of a cosplay.

Yes the skirt is green and not black and the gloves is i think they are leather brown. With cosplaying it is important to have the correct colours and not so much length except with hair.

Unforunately i don't know if your hair was long because i can't really see any side shorts that reveal your hair but if you had log hair then excellent. Also did you have beads on the hair?

The scarf was just a plain red scarf however Rikku's turns from red, to orange then to yellow with the tassels at the end. But you had only one week so congrats anyway.

Your bra was a plain yellow bra however Rikku' looks like a bikini top i guess you could say and you forgot the underwear linings which should have been seen at your waist.

Also another thing that gives an awesome effect to the cosplay is contacts...even if you didn't have the albhed ones you could get light green or dark green contacts. I did a Itachi cosplay without the sharigan contact but appareantly people said i looked awesome.

Anyway this is what i have to say Rikku and i say you still look awesome!!!!

I was just playing the game before and noticed that she wears a yellow
g-string. ( most cosplayers who cosplay rikku forget that offten) haha ^^

^ xD I couldn't find one in the week I had. I contemplated just drawing it on, but. x3 I'll be looking for one this time round. =3
