OPINIONS: COSPLAY CAFE AT DO

Me and Tammy were playing with ideas and we have come up with something along the lines of a Cosplay/Maid/Host Cafe. Of course in cosplay. I was thinking of having this set up at Doujin Overload 2010 to see the general (well as general as you can get with the anime population XD) reception of such a thing. I have 7 days before I fly back to New Zealand. And I will be broaching this particular idea with Seong.

Yes I am well aware of the no outside food with the hotel but I am hoping to work something out.

In the mean time I would like to get a general feel of what you cosplayers think of this idea.

Would it work?
Will it flop?

And if this idea does get approved then we will also need to know who would help us do this~

Note: In case those of you don't know what I'm talking about. It's basically one of those so often mentioned maid cafes/butler cafes/cosplay cafes. The customers are generally served by people dressed as maids/butlers/in cosplay and the idea is to create a fun atmosphere.

Sounds fun as long as we didn't get creepy people.
I think you'd get a fair few number of people as long as it wasn't too expensive.
I'd be keen as to help out for an hour or so ^.^

The idea is really cute and fun and I know it'd be great to see something like this at the event (though I can't help out or be part of it myself as I'm a seller).

There is the obvious problem of outside food or drink. You could always talk with the hotel staff (depending on where it's held) on actually working alongside their little food stall (they provide the food and drink, and you serve it). Don't know what they'd say to that, but it's worth a shot.

Though the food they sell is usually horrendously over-priced so was thinking if we couldn't see if they could decrease the prices a little.

I mean it would also make it easier to sell the food because we are poor people (pfftlol <3~ cosplayers) but people are more likely to buy for the whole "cosplay cafe" experience so to speak XD.

Sounds fun, but I'm wondering if we'll get enough people at DO to do that... although having refreshments INSIDE the venue would be great!

Awesome idea. It would prolly work really well at geddons as well, considering the large crowds. Not too chure about DO as it is a bit more "niche", as Basaka said, you might be better off going with simple refreshments first and seeing what the reception is like, and then as the event size increases, so too does the cafes repertoire?
DO is also by its nature a bit more casual.
All said, you are GOING to end up with a few weirdos, I think it is pretty much a guaranteed fact, I think it comes down to how you deal with them.

Ill be the cafe's bouncer...
