Right, so, for Saturday of Christchurch Armageddon '10 I'm cosplaying this guy.
And because none of those pictures really illustrate the accessories I need help with, have a picture of an actual cosplayer: here.

The cloak is straight forward enough, however I'm lost as to what sort of thing I should be using to make his shoes/gloves/belts/etc.

For belts, I figure it would be easy enough to hand-paint the stars on, but I think it would be costly and embarrassing to approach the counter with x6 actual belts. |D I would prefer to use strips of sturdy material, but I'm not sure what type would be good for that sort of thing.

Then there's the lego. >8| For reasons unknown to me, he has pieces of what look remarkably like lego blocks attached to his shoes, gloves, and the side of his pants where the chaps attach. I'm very new to sewing/ crafting accessories, so the only thing my noob brain can come up with is cardboard, which, you know, I'm totally not going to use because that's stupid! D<

I also don't know how to make chaps, or what sort of fabric would be good for them. I found one example of a Hao cosplay where someone bought brown/reddish pants and cut holes in the sides to make them look like chaps, but I would prefer to actually do it properly. OTL

So yes! Suggestions for any or all of the above would be much appreciated~ Cx

For the belts, you can actually buy red belting/webbing I think it's called by the metre from spotlight. Very Happy

8D;;; It sounds ridiculous but uh. You COULD use cardboard and um... milk bottle caps? |D For the lego? And then do something to get a consistent texture like covering them in paper clay/craft foam/papier mache/road kill.

And then paint. 8D; You would possibly need a few layers of paint with acrylic. Oh, or spray painting would make it a LOT easier.

Oh, thanks Jess! I'll go check it out next week. :3

@Alex - Lol, you're right, that's not a half bad idea as silly as it sounds. xD I'll have to start saving my milk bottle caps! 8D
