Anime Subbed or dubbed OOH CONTROVERSY!
Post By xsilent_shadow_kunx. 07/01/10, 11:54 pm

Okay guy I was just wondering what do you prefer!?!

Subbed or dubbed

This is my personal opinion so don't give me the bash for this but I perfer dubbed when I first watch an anime *gets hit on the side of the head with a tomato*
I watch it dubbed because you still get the same story (most of the time) and its easier to keep up with it!
The second time round I watch it subbed then I can see the differences and see what the English left out.

Another reason I perfer dubbed is because the jokes are easier to get and you don't hear chan or kun every five minutes. (I'm sorry but I really hate hearings those words because my friends used to go round calling each other blah-chan or blah-kun ALL THE TIME)

Anyway whats your view?

I like both. I mean, some dubs can kill characters, like in bleach
[;___; Luppi...WHY DO YOU SOUND SO MALE? D:] but I do generally prefer
dubs, mainly because I'm too lazy to read subs. xD Some dubs are really
good, like FMA and Scrapped Princess, and then there are the bad ones
[I haven't encountered any, except for Bleach in some parts.]
But I also find the japanese voices to be more expressive and more often suit the character.
I dread/look foreward to the Reborn dub. They might do decently on the
vongola gaurdians, but the varia is screwed. D: [I cannot think of
ANYONE who could do a decent job of Xanxus or Squalo's voice.]
But chyeah. :p

>_> I like both.

And I really don't like the negativity towards dubs. They sound different /because they're in another language/. I mean, you can get really bad ones. (D.N. Angel >_>) But you can also get really good ones. (Ouran. <3)

You can probably also get bad Japanese ones. But you probably won't be able to tell it's bad because /it's in Japanese/.

I'm probably mostly fond of English voices because I'm interested in Voice Acting when I grow up. xD

@Moli: 8D I think Greg Cipes should voice baby Lambo.

i'm biased, i prefer subs =p
i grew up watching anime dubbed in malay, and it is *BAD*.

don't get me wrong, if you give me anime dubbed in english, i'll devour it assuming i'm not too lazy to watch in the first place but i generally prefer subbed. i totally don't learn japanese by watching subbed anime and subbed japanese MVs...

Subbed. It makes me sad to learn about what gets cut from dubs, so much that I generally don't watch them anymore.
The exception is Yugioh. That's so bad its good.

I like both. The original voices are normally nice to listen to and a lot of them have really lovely voices. And it feels good when you recognize some of the words they use *is a dork*

Dubbed versions provide good background noise for studying, where you can listen to it and not be frustrated by not knowing what they're saying. Also, I find it a nice experience to listen to something different once in a while ;D

Then again, a lot of the time I prefer the version I hear first. Like FMA -- I first heard that in English when I borrowed the box set off Kiki who suggested the english version. Switching to japanese after I'd run out of English ones to watch was really painful and difficult >.>

As for Reborn... I can't wait for the dubs to come out. Because then they'll release DVDs and I'll be able to buy them and feel special Very Happy *is lame*

xDD That, too. It'll take like two years for it to get up to the varia arc though. D8
God knows how long till the TYL arc. /sigh

I know a lot of people don't like it, but I have to say- I love the d.gray-man dub.
Kill me now, but I seriously cannot wait for Jasdevi's fight to come out in english. <333

I like both (cos I'm greedy)....Yet I believe I do tend to lean more towards Subs XD

I will always give a Dub a go (especially now days since most companies do really good jobs) and only if I find I don't like the voices will I switch to subs. Dubs are also good because it mean you can play them in the background...or in my case increase the chances of my mother watching them with me (I have managed to get her to watch quite a lot by saying I will keep it in english).

Then I love Subs because I love listening to Japanese XD....Also if I start a series before it get licensed (and released) I get so used to the Japanese voices that switching to the dub takes a bit of getting used to.

Then on that rare occassion I will find that I like the Dub more....COWBOY BEBOP!

Or on an even rarer occassion I will like neither the Sub or the Dub and just want to rip my ears off.....X the Movie.

I LIEK SPANISH DUBZ.

wait...

i like dubs. because i speak English, and because of the things SLK said.

sure, when things haven't been translated and they have subs, sure they're good.

but when there is English, it's much better.

"OH NO, THEY GOT THEIR VOICE COMPLETELY WRONG"

GTFO, it's a voice, and it's english, of coarse it wont match the japanese voice.

>_>

K Done.

(i have more to my reasoning, but cbf.)

I watch more subbed since I watch online =P
But when I have the dvd I'll always watch the dub.
I prefer things like Cromartie High dubbed, since it's a comedy and reading the jokes isn't quite the same... Plus the guy who does the main character's voice in that is hilarious XD

I lo~ve the Wolf's Rain dub as well <3 It is godly.
I tend to watch things subbed first though, just cause =P
