NOOOOOO!!!!! I cant believe Dev Patel is doing Prince Zuko!!! Am really horrified by the casting They should have stuck with the voice actors. I would've been happy with that....
edit: just a funny clip I found.

Re: The Last Airbender By Sonic Reducer. 03/09/09, 01:49 pm
I don't have a major problem with live action anime, mostly because there have been some great live action comic book adaptations and I'm come across as an ignorant prick if i just discarded off all live action whatevers. The only problem I can have is the lack of imagination on part of the studios to remake something rather than use their own ideas.. but thats never gonna happen.
I also dislike the whole "stupid americans shouldn't do this blah blah" thing either as I can see the passion for the products in any country and its passion that makes a good adaptation.
With this I am not interested since Avatar didn't interest me as a show in general. but oh well. I will read reviews.
Sonic Reducer EVEN MORE EPICLY EPIC

Yeah, Dante Basco (34) could totally pull of Zuko (16).

Dev Patel's a good actor. i reckon he could totally pull this off. I just wonder how much of the story they can put into one movie, or will this be a trilogy?

The trailer almost seems too dramatic. But, no matter what, I will adore this movie.
Actually, it would have been so awesome if they had made the trailer to be a live action version of the opening bit of the cartoon, where Katara is speaking.

Re: The Last Airbender By Le_Saboteur. 30/09/09, 01:16 am
Not gonna lie, I'm still pretty pissed off about the race aspect but I won't go into that here (that's what imdb is for !). In terms of the actors ability, I'm pretty confident about Dev, Shaun Toub (Iroh- no fat Uncle's allowed, apparently) and Cliff Curtis as Ozai.
JRath seemed like a pretty decent actor in that one episode of Criminal Minds he was in... I have no idea about the kids playing Katara or Aang. I would say 'they wouldn't have picked them if they weren't good actors!' but we've all seen some pretty terrible acting in movies aimed at kids.
I'll still go see it, of course, but I wouldn't say I'm too excited at this point. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. When the full length trailer comes out it might get me a bit more hyped up. Whatever happens, even if the movie is a mess, it doesn't affect the original show, so... hey! I hope it's good, but whatevs.

I know the kid playing Aang was chosen because he LOOKS like Aang but also because he's a good martial artist, as is Dev apparently. So the fight scenes between Aang and Zuko should be pretty epic.
Counting down the days come 2010. Am gonna grab 4EyedKing and Idot to go in cosplay with me to see it =D Probably my mate who did Aang for AuckGeddon too. Thing it would be pretty epic. Even if i just did the outfit, not the wig. Stupid wig. *grumbles*

If there's one thing I am looking forward to in the movie it's the fight scenes! I'm sure they will be good.
I just hope Noah Ringer really gets Aang. Everything we've seen of him so far is so morose and srs business.
