Uhm...help. Cardcaptor Sakura's staff 375551

How the heck can I make Cardcaptor Sakura's staff? I has no idea. My friend Ca- actually you guys probably know him as wetsuitboy is helping me. BUT WE DON'T KNOW HOW!

*cries*

Stupid staff. So well we have an idea on what to use for the handle (...yes the easiest bit I know) but we aren't quite sure how to do the ...bird..head...thing on the top.

So I was wondering if- HELP! Please? Cardcaptor Sakura's staff 875635

Sculpeeeey. Duit. When baked, it's super solid but won't break. For the shiny goldness, maybe you should paint it...?

Whatever we do it's going to be fun. BOUGHT THE MATERIAL FOR THE ACTUAL DRESS TODAY! 8D

But me and Callum aren't really sure how we are going to do it. It shall require much thought. And then most likely deaths. (Thanks to me) And stuffffffs.

I made one! Very Happy

The head bit is:

1: I used foil and masking to get the shape of it (its light and solid, good y/y?)
2: Put on a layer of Paper mache (Coz I wanted to 8D)
3: Put on a layer of Paper clay (this stuff dries ROCK HARD and you dont have to bake it!)
4: Sanded down and bumps and painted it 8Db

The wings are made of cheap foam material 8D and the pink circles on top of the wing is once again paper clay~

I've dropped my wand a few times when i was bored and trying to swing around Sakura style... it hasnt been damaged at all 8Db

... I wish I had used my brain a bit more when I was putting on the paper clay and used water -_____-" I wouldnt have so many cracks in it if I did OTL LMAO /really stupid.

oh! we (Kelchup and I) have made six.

we went to spotlight and asked for the no-longer-needed cardboard tubes that the fabric is wrapped around and used these for the sticks (cost =$0)

We made the heads out of paper mache, this is not as difficult as it may seem, just very time consuming. This does make the head lumpy, so ninaarrx3's idea of covering it in paper is perhaps a good idea. (cost = like $3 for the wallpaper glue)

we made the eyes and the bottom thing of the sticks with clay too. I do not recommend making the bottom decoration out of clay, it doesn't stay. Then again, we used not-very-good glue. I think maybe paper mache-ing the bottom using a toilet roll or something similar as the skeleton. (cost = $13 for air hardening clay from the warehouse, smaller packs are $8)

The paint cost about $8 if I remember correctly. Some colours we already had.

I also tried making a star staff. This was a little bit more difficult, I used cardboard shapes as a skeleton and paper mache. Putting the star on top of the stick was hard and I had to get my Grandma to put a wire pin through it to make it stay. I bought little wings from spotlight, I think they we 50c each but I can't really remember.

We used some varnish that we found in my garage to make the staff shinny
