Cover up tattoos for cosplay? By Tails. 11/10/09, 05:48 pm |
| Okay, srsbns guys. Some of you may know, I have a Tweety Bird tattoo on my right shoulder blade. Wahoo! Anyway, I've been considering covering it up with make up while I cosplay. I'll never be ashamed of it or anything, just now that I'm getting more serious about cosplay (HAH) I want to be as accurate to characters as possible.
So what do you guys think? Do tattoos matter when cosplaying? |

| i get this when i cosplay except with my snakebite peircings ^^;; and when i take them out there is obvious evidence that there were remanants of them on my lip hence i find characters that wear masks or that dont really matter like a pokemahn gijinka. and i have a heartagram on my right upper, cover it with concealer STICK *not liquid* and put liquid foundation on top and then powder. or just the first two. NOT THIN LIZZY -______-;; there is nothing in that list you can't scab from female friends of yours ^^ or use free samples from farmers as a one off and don't buy the item xP is this for auckland armageddon? ill bring some up. |

| The absolute best concealer (originally made for covering scars for war victims) is called Dermacolour and it canes ANYTHING without having to make a million layers. It can be a little hard to find, and I think a palette of a few different colours is about NZ$40-50 (mine was last year). Next best is RCMA foundation at about $25 a pop per colour. 'Tis awesome. These are both really heavy duty stuff and are badass. I've used Dermacolour to cover a full sleeve before, and then body painted on top of it. It can handle any amount of water you throw at it.
Next tier under that is MAC Studio stick (which might even be more expensive, but is readily available). I think Smashbox has a similar product, maybe even Nars. Under that is normal beauty concealers... Like Cyren said, stick is better than liquid. Cream is also perfectly fine. Be sure to set with loose powder if you want it to last a long time.
Oh, and Cyren, to cover up your piercings you can try a little modelling wax really thinned out (heating it up in between your hands works) and then cover with concealer and powder.
As for whether these things actually matter... I guess it depends on the tat/character :3 |

| I get this alot when cosplaying. With tattoos and piercings. And it dosnt help that all 9 of my piercings are located on my face. Not in the less obvious places either <_< (double snakebites, medusa, septum bridge and cheeks) I just dont bother taking them out because i cant be bothered with them closing up. Last year I just went as a bad ass rozen maiden with lip piercings & constantly had a fag hanging out the side of her lip<_<
This year Im doing hatsune miku. NO SLEEVED COSTUME D;< //has half a sleeve of tattoonessess High tied pig tails //has tatts on neck, Biohazard/white power miku FTW
According to a friend who does special effects, camomile lotion works a trick for hiding tats. you put it on, it drys white, but will cover the tattoo. Then you put conceler or body paint on top to blend into skin?
I havnt actually tried it out yet. BUT WE SHALL SEE
BTW, thin lizzy dosnt cover tattoos as it falsly advertises. you have to apply a f*load to make it slightly less visable, but that just results in a massive brown splodge half on your skin <_< and ends up looking worse than what it did before |

but no joke and thank you for the modeling clay idea! i thought i would have to wear haku's mask permanently ^^;; |

| What can I use to cover up burn marks? Concealer take away the redness but they just look like veins. I need to cover quite a large area too. |
