It's Banned Books Week!!
By Guest. 27/09/09, 02:27 pm |
| This week is the week to celebrate the books that someone, sometime, somewhere, thought were so terrible that no only shall THEY not read them, but they thought NOONE should read them.
Yes, people are STILL trying to ban books. This is the list of 100 most challenged (i.e. people tried to ban them) recorded by the American Library Association for the decade 1990-1999.
Ok people, how many of them have YOU read? I've only read 14. But then again, something like five of them are Judy Blume and I counted another ten or so that were non-fiction and puberty and/or sex based.

| | I honestly only read TKaM in a fit of desperation on Guide Jamboree - I had run out of my books and was reduced to trading with the other girls. I REALLY enjoyed it though. Depressing though. |

| | This is the "most frequently attempted banned books from 1990-1999" - probably a most-banned-ever list you'd get different ones. I looked around the website and couldn't find a most-banned-ever list. |

Book for Girls: A Growing-Up Guide for Parents & Daughters, by Lynda Madaras Because knowing what's going on is a bad thing!......... |

| Heh, Judy Blume. I remember the teacher who ran our school book club a few year back telling us of the utter SCANDAL that "Forever" caused in her school when she was our age. They passed it around in suspicious looking paper bags.... |
