BECAUSE I AM THE MOOD TO FANGASM DAMMIT.

For the past six months I have been actively pursuing the paths of the comic books, which is a mission in itself considering my local library doesn't actually have most of what I want, so I'm just reading whatever I can find.

...and I've stooped to reading fanfiction. ><

Anyway: X-MEN, YES? Favourite characters? Favourite pairings? 8D DISCUSS WITH ME.

FANFICTION?! WHAT NO

I love almost every incarnation of the X-Men Franchise (and the Avengers, to a lesser extent). My favourite story lines so far have been Age of Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix Saga, Days of Future Past and Astonishing X-Men (the last is my favourite by far). Joss Whedon + X-Men = AMAZING.

I recommend all of those if you start looking for specific X-Titles at some point. Other than Astonishing, they're all what I'd consider required reading for an X-Geek, just to catch up on the stories that really impacted the franchise. Astonishing is great for it's quality writing and characterisation rather than the impact it's had.

I quite liked House of M and Son of M (Pietrooo!!! <3) as far as other modern titles go. I haven't read much other stuff apart from X-Treme X-Men and Ultimate X-Men and I wasn't too fond of either of those.

Favourite characters: Magneto and his spawn; Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver (twincest loool, thanks Ultimates!) and Polaris. The twins are more Avengers and other titles, but they are awesome enough to get a mention here.

Gambit and Colossus regularly compete for my favourite X-Man position. I also really like Beast, Rogue, Bishop, Iceman, Forge... No, I'm too much of a nerd, I really like a lot of characters (including the bad guys). My favourite villain would be... Mojo?

No, srsly, I really like the Friends of Humanity an similar anti-mutant groups in their story lines. I think they have a lot of impact. As far as mutant villains (excluding Mags), I really enjoy the Hellfire Club and Cassandra Nova. Of course I like Sinister, Apocalypse blah blah, but they're just so... MASSIVE.

I ship Kitty (Shadowcat/Sprite/Ariel XD) and Piotr (Colossus) most of all. Maybe that's one of the reasons why I love Astonishing X-Menn so much- err, apart from the ending. I also really like the Jean/Scott/Emma love triangle; it is equal parts infuriating and entertaining (and sad).

OH AND PIETRO AND WANDA. That's just funny. Special thanks go to Mark Millar.

FANFICTION YES. D: They have a whole archive of Rogan! A WHOLE ARCHIVE.

Currently I'm reading my way through Age of Apocalpyse. I read the last volume first and now I'm reading the second volume. I hate not reading things in order! But yes I'm enjoying it so far.

I am LOVING the Age of Apocalypse incarnate of Magneto. For some reason I'm finding him gloriously attractive.

Favourite character of mine would have to be Wolverine. Not because of the Hugh Jackman incarnate, but as a character himself I'm finding him fascinating. Gambit ranks high up there as well, but then again so does Rogue. I like Mystique too!

I really really really ship Wolverine and Rogue. I've run out of fanfiction to read. It sucks. But canonically, I ship Kitty and Piotr as well as Rogue and Gambit, funnily enough.

I have so many X-Men costumes I want to do. =_____=;; Emma Frost, Psylocke, Rogue, Scarlet Witch, Domino...

I love the Xmen, but I loathe reading comics. It's practically impossible to get some of the older stuff in sequence, and the constant rebooting just really really bugs my inner pedant. So I tend to stick to one-shots. Some of the DC one-shots just blow my mind in their awesomeness but Marvel isn't as keen on them.

It's funny, coz I have never seen any hint of Rogan before their movie versions. Rogue/Gambit all over the show, but she tends to be too busy blowing up sugar honey iced tea (usually working with The Brotherhood!) to have relationships. Wolve/Jean is a canon staple, sometimes Wolv/Storm, Wolv/whatshername the Yakuza chiky.

But in that movie context its so so so works. Coz he's about the only person who can safely deal with her. And when she's finally legal he'll be the same age still! (sorta...) Very Happy

Yeah, I'm not a fan of comicverse Rogan either.

Movieverse and cartoonverse work best for me. Especially cartoonverse for some reason.

I can't believe I forgot to add Wolverine into the Jean/Scott/Emma thing! It's so important! Of course Romy is amazing... Because... Gambit is so sexy ;_; And cocky and lovable.

I have no idea why Marvel don't do more one-shot comics, especially with the MASSIVE SUCCESS DC has had with them. To be honest though, the calibre of writers in general at DC seems to be a bit higher.

I HATE the rebooting too, but 616 is just so freaking convoluted that I can understand it. Especially when a sugar honey iced tea writer gets a hold of one of the major lines and just effs everything up.

Oh, Kotone, have you read anything involving Joseph yet? He is sexy Magneto clone X-Men 352708

I'm totally not a fan of Rogan. Never have been. My feral Romy shipping from the 90s cartoon (when I was like... seven) has never truly abated.

Forgot to add to my favourite characters list: PETE WISDOM. He is one cool mofo. If some one ever did a Pete Wisdom cosplay, I might explode. Not X-Men, but cool enough to count.

Depends on the cartoon. That Xmen Evolution where everyone except Storm, Wolverine and X were 16? That was weird.

Overall I didn't like the cartoon as much. I mean, Mystique was their biology teacher at the mainstream high school they attended, and X never noticed?

Mystique was actually their principal, and X DID know. He chose not to tell the students.

Wolverine and the X-Men is MUCH better. The first episode or two is pretty cringe-worthy in my opinion, but it just gets fantastic.

Principal!?
This seems like a Dumbledore level of "we'll let them figure this out themselves" nonsense when its obvious to everyone else that just fessing up some facts will stop a few people from dying and a lot emotional stress on everyone.

Unfortunately, there's too much Wolverine and it's not awesome, hardass Wolverine (except for in a few instances). Also; Wolverine ever being the leader of the core X-Group irks me to no end. He has very little background with most of the X-Men in this show- as we see in the ep. where Frost is going through Scott's memories of Jean- and yet is called upon by X to become the leader... I can understand that Scott went a bit nuts, but what about Storm (who has traditionally been Scott's 2IC) or Beast, who has been there right from the start?

Just... AGH. Damn saturation of Wolvie.

Even with that, it is a lot better than Evolution, especially comparing the one season released so far of WatXM to Season 1 of Evolution. Even though Evo holds some very fond memories for me (I remember running home from school so I could tape every episode... yes, I still have the tapes), this one is so much better.

My wish for Season 2- LESS WOLVERINE AND MOAR X-MEN.

Yeah! I am also pretty disappointed with lack of hardass Wolverine.

Wolverine is still one of my favourite characters, but they downplayed him so much that he could be a little more "responsible" as leader of the X-Men.

I miss badass Wolverine.

Although I can't decide which version of Nightcrawler I love better, Evo!Nightcrawler or WatXM!Nightcrawler. I liked Nightcrawler portrayed as a goofball, but WatXM!Nightcrawler is somehow a whole lot more cool.

My wish for Season 2 is also more X-Men, but more badass Wolverine. So uhm. Basically all I'm wishing for is for Season 2 to come out soon. MY X-MEN CRAVING WILL NEVER BE SATISFIED.

Oh, I love WatXM Nightcrawler. He's very swashbuckling! I hope they get to show more of his lighthearted side, though. And I love that they're doing KurtxWanda. I always thought they made a good couple (though I like Wanda and Vision, too).

Unfortunately, neither will mine. Which is why I'm always rewatching everything and rereading everything else, I guess. I've been watching random episodes of season 3 and 4 of Evo, sometimes I forget how good it really was. Yay, Cajun Spice X-Men 711668

Spoiler:

MAD LOVE FOR X-MEN SHOWS. <3

Also; am I the only person in the world that didn't hate Spyke? Sure, he was annoying, but his story in Seasons 3 and 4 was great.

OMNOM CAJUN SPICE. DO LIKE.

I didn't mind Spyke so much. (I just realised I said pretty much exactly the same thing you did. ><). And yeah! When he joins the Morlocks he gets cool.

I am so tempted to rewatch X-Men Evolution again. But I still have to finish watching WatXM. I only have a couple more episodes to go.

I haven't actually seen the 90's cartoon. I need to keep a look out for it because I'm dying for more X-Men.

I'm still an X-Men noob, considering I only started really actively searching out for the comics a couple of months ago.

I've also managed to force my boyfriend into geeking with me as well. Something enjoyable to argue about other than Dragon Ball Z or how I think sports is geekier than reading comic books. (SERIOUSLY. Sports fans are UNBELIEVABLY geeky. Not a lot of anime fans cosplay, BUT SPORTS FANS wear team shirts almost every day. Just coz Sport is more popular doesn't mean it's any less geeky-*muttermuttermutter*playerstatistics*muttermuttermutter*)

You can buy the original series on DVD now, I think. I'm pretty sure I saw the first season (maybe it was just the first disc) at KMart a while ago.

It's good, but it's incredibly dated. The voice acting is HILARIOUS. There are some really good parts, though, like the Dark Phoenix saga is really good. I think that so far WatXM is a lot better, and will be HEAPS better if they show more of the other characters and stop having such Wolvie-centric plots.

Aww, haha, I grew up with my brothers stash of Marvel comics and trading cards, and was just on the tail end of being old enough to watch- and enjoy- The Animated Series. Thanks, nerdy older brother!

The ending of WatXM = Amazing. I was like, holy FUUUU. For reals. Very Happy
