Making ears
Post By porkbun. 28/05/09, 01:57 pm

Hiya me again~! sweatdrop
I (once again) need help with something....
I'm trying to make ears. As in fluffy ones. Its on my signature that Im trying for Lombaxes, if they were cat ones, they would be some what more simple....
Its not that putting the ears together a problem, but how am I going to wear them?
I thought of using headbands, but Im trying to use that as a last resort, because (for me) they are very uncomfortable....as in headaches sad :sadcry:
soo... any tips or ideas? Any are much apprecitated!

Ahhh, Ratchet! Be sure to take photos!

In all honesty, the headband hurting your head will depend on how tight it is. I had a pair of long elf ears for Tess, since the Jak and Daxter games have those freaking huge ears. The only way they hurt was when I bent them to a certain angle that they pressed against my own ears (and thus hurt).

Since you're doing Ratchet (I'm guessing from the original game?) You'll be making his skull-cap too, right? Might be an idea to make/buy a yellow spandex-like headpiece (sorta like a half balaclava) that covers your whole head, ears ect. That way it can hide ears and then you could make the ears, stuff them (depending on how you plan on making them) then sew them onto the headpiece. Skullcap over the top and then it's finished.

Don't know if you can picture that, but it's probably the way I'd go about making a Lombax cosplay if I was to ever do it. I can elaborate more/show pictures if you wish? :3

Spotlight has headbands that you can glue/attach things to (I got one for my Secret Cosplay Headdress) and they are VERY lose and comfy(sp - damn IE don't have a built in dictionary like Firefox...I miss it) not like any others, as I get that headache thing as well with some headbands, but these ones are sweet Very Happy even come in different width sizes Very Happy

*lol* Welp, even if it isn't ratchet, the head-cover idea still stands. If they have more hair (Angela does, doesn't she? I never played any of the games other than the 1st until the PS3 ones rolled around), you can attach that on top too. :3

Well when I made the ears for my red XIII cosplay I used a pair of those cat ears so may people have and just added bits onto them (The backs, to make them more relistic, the fur and ear rings and stuff) it wasn't to hard and was really quite effective.
Hope that helps ^^
